That doesn't get it done for Krug. Reports are he's looking for around $8 million per season. On top of that he has every Canadian team on his no trade list because he doesn't want to play in Canada.

I kinda think the days of overpaying "aging" UFAs are over. So many teams are close to the cap and now RFAs seem to getting UFA money. So it really doesn't matter what a player is "looking for", it's the offer(s) he will be receiving. Plus we are looking at Covid 19 cap. Odds are Krug will accept a US offer. Wings seem to have cap and need for this Michigan player.

Krug did say he'd sign bellow market value to stay in Boston if thats the case I believe $7M is around what he'd sign to stay in Boston. If he doesn't stay in Boston he will get $8M.

Before COVID 19. I thought if Boston won the cup management might let him walk because they do have some very solid D prospects and might not want to tie up $7M for 7 years in Krug. Now who knows. Both Krug and his wife are from Michigan and they met at Michigan State so I could see him singing in Detroit if Boston isn't an option. After the season Detroit has had Krug might be the only big name UFA that would consider signing in Detroit.

Elite OFD in the open market would get $8+ million. He's also only 28yr old, it's not like he's early 30's.

He'll be 29 in two weeks. I just think it's a whole new world when comes to $$$ and term for UFAs. Mostly because of the RFA are getting so much more and in the future.

The Avs are taking Alzner’s contract for that, if at all because cap space is getting tighter and tighter for them.

28/29, were splitting hairs at this point. He's still not close to being someone you worry about declining due to age. I will agree (to an extent) that RFA's are getting more, but many are young stars (Marner, Rantenen, Aho) or franchise players (i.e. McDavid, Matthews, Eichel). I think more teams are willing to take gambles to get their RFA's signed to long-term deals in hopes that a few years down the road they are getting great value (i.e. Pastrnak).

Pure trash for Mantha Byron yeah no Lehkonen is a 3rd liner yeah no. Sorry Mete has proven nothing and you think that trash gets you Mantha plus Detroit deals the #32 overall pick which is like a late 1st this year. And there's no way Mantha takes a 2 x 4.75 offer. First off that takes him right up to free agency. And secondly on a 2 year deal you're probably looking at closer to 5.5 instead anyways Monreal doesn't have the pieces both Montreal and Detroit want the same thing a high end LD. And Montreal can't provide one. And fat chance in hell Krug waste his time in Montreal. It was already mentioned that if he doesn't resign with Boston that he's probably going home to Detroit.
