Leafs RHD Acquisition Tiers

Just trying something out because I'm bored. Below are the names of a few RHD (and Brodin) who are often targets in Leafs trades on here. Basically I just want to make a sort of a tier list of who I personally think are the best targets for them based on a number of things. I know there are probably names that I am missing, so just let me know in the comments who I could add to this or who you think should be in another tier and why.

The tiers are kind of murky because there's no real definition for them - basically it's just increasing in problems going left to right.

Tier 1/LW - Term, money, skillset, acquisition cost are all a decent fit for the Leafs.

Tier 2/C - Decent fit, but 1 or 2 small issues that take them away from tier 1

Tier 3/RW - Basically the rentals. I don't really think it makes sense for the Leafs to acquire a guy who will be looking for a raise after the season.

Tier 4/LD - Guys who would be nice to have, but the cost to acquire is probably too high

Tier 5/RD (aka the Montier) - Guys who are often suggested, but imo are overrated and I would not trade for at the general asking price.

Note: I didn't include anyone from the real top tier of Dmen because I just don't think that makes sense for a number of reasons.

It's just that the money he will make is uncertain due to the fact that he's a FA. If he's able to get more than he should elsewhere, don't match the offer.

I have seen so many RHD targets that Leafs should acquire in the past two seasons. Most of them are ill conceived ideas. Reason one, "What is the reason for the other team to trade a competent fairly priced RHD to the Leafs? Reason two. Many of available RHD are just not that much better than what the Leafs currently have. Seems like so many think the Leafs should either overpaid in the trade acquisition or be $$$/term for the player
Leafs will be much better next season at RHD. Reason one,,,,Barrie will not be on the team...he was the Leafs worse Dman last season. Ceci was average but made too much at 4.5m. NJow can the Leafs trade Johnsson, get no cap back in a trade l and then maybe sign a UFA like DeMelo or Gudas. Either way he think Holl and Liljegren are almost guaranteed spots. Dermot and Marincin are other alternatives, ough as a Leaf fan would really see the need for another competent NHLer on defence.

Yeah, they basically just need a complimentary player for Rielly, (which is what those 1st tier guys are), and then some extra depth pieces in case of injury. After that, it's just the team learning to play defense as a unit.

So many say Reily need a partner. Fact is Reilly just isn't good (he's average) defensively. Reilly needs to smarten up defensively and just be a better overall player. In the first ten games of this season,Reilly was the Leafs worse Dman. And for two seasons both Babcock and Keefe refuse to put him on the PK unless absolutely necessary. I don't understand why folks think Reilly is " top tier" Dman or even a # 1 Dman. Maybe on the PP or when the Leafs have the puck. Certainly his overall play does not warrant such love.
