I want to see the habs switch things up a bit, my top 6:
Drouin - Domi - Gallagher*
Tatar - Danault - Kovalchuk*

Kovalchuk was a beast with Danault and Tatar while Gallagher was hurt. Why not try our best possession player (Gallagher) with our most skilled forwards (Drouin and Domi). Gallagher gets guys going and MTL needs Drouin and Domi to have a big year.

Also resembles the 2010 playoff top 6 group pretty closely (rewatched those series for something to do);
XXX - Gomez - Gionta = Drouin - Domi - Gallagher
Cammallari - Plekanec - Kostitsyn = Tatar - Danault - Kovalchuk

The rest of the lineup is a huge upgrade over the 2010 team that went on a good playoff run.

I agree with pretty much all.of this. Especially needing a ECHL team, with the amount of picks that would be sent away from developing in the system would just be a waste.

Bergevin will not let this team come into next season without a change though. Likely moves one of Domi, or Tatar in a package for a top LHD. And still needs to look at making room in the center of the ice so that KK can come into the league in 2021 and play in the proper top 6 role he needs.

I think KK will end up in the NHL this year, but otherwise great work. I like the lines & pairings a lot. If we are signing a backup & re-signing McNiven, I could see the habs trading or at least loaning Lindgren to another AHL team. Great work. 👍

If KK does make the team, my lines would be:
Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
Domi - Suzuki - Kovalchuk
Drouin - Kotkaniemi - Armia
Lehkonen - Evans/Okulov - Byron

IMO, these lines don’t have as much chemistry as yours, but it’s hard to do so while moving Domi to the wing.

My guy signed Domi to a 6.25 mil contract for 6 years. Point signed for 6.75 mil for 3 years. NO WAY Domi gets more than 3 years. Also, why the hell did you sign McNiven over Lindgren?

1 or 2 of McShane, Houde, and Fonstad will get an ELC imo. As long as Habs can manage under the 50 contract cap, I don't think it would be a problem. Even if Laval ends up getting over stocked with guys, with the high probability Trois-Riviere will get an ECHL team soon, Laval will have an affiliate to send guys.

Ok I’ll give you one chance because you don’t know your hockey. Point is 22 yo, signed 3 years so he’ll reminds RFA at the end of is contract and will get more than 9M on is next contract because he’s making I think around 9M the last year ( 6.25M AAV tho ). Domi is 24 yo, if you sign him a 2 or 3 years deal, that will bring him right to the FA ( UFA ) and could choose is team ( so that’s dumb ). So you can sign Domi to a 1 year deal and he’ll still be RFA the next season, or we sign him to a long term contract

I think you’re late on the news but Bergevin ALREADY said he’ll only sign ONE (1) of Hillis McShane Fonstad Houde. Cam Hillis will be the guy no question

I remember reading somewhere that "likely" only one gets signed, but that doesn't mean much for the time being. Too many variables need to happen first. Even in the scenario you have, Habs organization contracts would be around 44-45.

What if Okulov doesn't sign? Kovalchuk doesn't come back? If there's a compliance buyout because of the flat cap, does MTL get rid of Alzner to free up a contract spot.

Hillis is gonna be signed, no doubt. but I'd wager money one of the three of Houde, Fonstad, and McShane are signed too.

Compliance buyout lmao just people here start this up. He said what he said, I’m just doing a realistic offseason that’s it. I’m not gonna sign on of McShane Houde or Fonstad when a month ago he said he’ll sign one of those 4. IMO he should sign Hillis and one of McShane or Fonstad but we’ll see.

Only on here??? There’s been articles speculating how it might make sense to have another one..

Here is one comparable to Domi's contract: Jake Guentzel (5 years/30 mil)
How can Domi realistically make a case to even come near this amount of money on a long term contract. He had one good year last year and slowed down this year. If he had kept up at the pace he was at last year, then I would agree that Domi has a case to make over 6 but I don't see any way that he can compare to a player like Guentzel.
Another comparable: Travis Konecny (6 years/ 33 mil) AAV: 5.5 mil
Domi is obviously not better than Travis Konecny, who was a 61 points before the pause while Domi was at 44. Konecny is 2 years younger, will make 750k less AAV than Domi's contract. If Domi asks for over 6 mil, all Bergevin has to do is put these 2 players as comparables and Domi cannot use his one good season to boost his contract. It may give him a little bit more, but not that much.

McNiven is 22 yo, Lindgren 26/27 yo, McNiven have potential, Lindgren is not good enough to be an established backup goalie. With is one way contract, he’s almost unmovable
