Try Marner + Liljegren for Jones. Retain 1634000 of Mitch’s salary too.

Didn't know he was viewed so highly. He hasn't had good stats. Changed it.

Doesn’t matter the trade for Jones... Columbus declines. They can’t afford to trade him, they won 2 games this season without him in the line up.... vs Ottawa and Minnesota... 2 of the worst teams in the league.

The only way, and I mean only way Columbus can even consider moving Jones is if they are getting a true number 1 center... Marner isn’t that.

Columbus loses for the first 2 years but after that they get Marner for nothing. Marner's contract is bad now but will be okay in 2-3 years.

Columbus needs to push hard for a cup now or trade Jones. Next year when he only has 1 year on his contract his value will go down drastically.

Yes, but he isn’t even close to being the same as Matthews and players of that level.... that’s the type of player Columbus would need to get back if Jones is moved. A face of the franchise type player. PLD isn’t that.... Werenski isn’t that....

They have no reason to trade him unless he says he 100% isn’t resigning and unless you know something no one else does, then you ride it out and see what happens. He’s the type of player you keep and it sucks to lose him, but you keep him unless he wants out. Ie stamkos, Tavares, Panarin, Pietranglo, and players along those lines... don’t freak out and trade your best player because he might not resign with you.... then you just give up on your team and your season....

That's the cost of these trades. They can likely only keep 2 of those guys. But you gotta give up something to get something.

Jones doesn't have more value than Marner as a player. Marner is younger and has more room to grow and is already just as good as Jones. However, what makes Jones attractive is his very team friendly contract for the next 2 years. Jones has a lot of value for teams that want to compete right now and are close to the salary cap.

The downside to Jones is that he is only under contract for 2 more years and then he can walk for nothing whereas Marner is under contract for 5 more years. Marner's contract isn't very attractive right now but in 2 years I think it will be a fair contract.

Everbody says the cap rises a lot,but that will not happen. The situation in the world at the moment will **** the money system for years .This year you can be happy if the cap not goes down.
