Description

For signings I tried to stay away from giving out term to 30+ YO players (Markstrom and Tanev). Instead I locked up Toffoli and Edmundson as they’re both still in their prime, then kept all other deals to 1 or 2 years for guys to prove their worth.

The one trade with Carolina helps clear cap space for future seasons and gives the team a tandem option for Demko this year. If Ferland can feel better after an extended rest then the Canes may be inclined to bring him back as he was very successful there.

Yeah, I’d rather keep Ferland once he’s healthy but having his contract off the books would help for next season. Plus I think a healthy Ferland actually has some trade value as opposed to Baertschi.

I don’t think they would. If anyone wanted Baertschi he would’ve already been traded. That’s why I traded Ferland, who I think still has some value when healthy.
