    Détails additionnels:
Matheson makes sense on a team like LA - they have prospect depth on the LD position, but not all are ready. Matheson could really thrive on a team with less expectations in more a rental role. It's a rough contract, but Carter's balances it, and Matheson could definitely reach a point where this is worthwhile

    They wouldn't...

Leafs trade 2 good players on fair contracts for 2 worse players...

That's like saying we'll trade you Kerfoot for Barkov to help you guys save money...

Anaheim, because Rakell is looking more like a good 2nd line forward than somebody to carry a line. With their very deep prospect pool on forward, Rakell is being pushed out by better talent. He has more value now than when this contract is up. Weegar carries significantly more value than most people think, and the first has the potential to be pretty high overall. I could add marginally.

Toronto, because of their cap situation. Wallmark is almost identical to Kerfoot in production this year, doing so with less ice time. He plays a similar game type but will probably get about half the salary. Brown has proven to be a NHL caliber top 6 defenseman. He is on par, possibly slightly better, than Holl, but also is likely to make much less salary. The leafs will clear about 2.5-3M in salary for essentially the same players, just less established. I am also willing to add here.

Yea. I don't think their trading him because Anahiem needs to stay above the minimum. If his contract is that good then they would want a lot more

Lol leafs could trade Johnsson and save cap. Why do they need to trade Kerfoot and Holl (A defensive defenseman which is what the leafs need)

My point is that his contract's value is the main reason HE has value. Like Kase, his value is motivated on a low cap hit. He himself is looking like a 40-50 point guy than the 60-70 range guy we expected. Most guys in that same range cost a pair of seconds, possibly a late first and a worse roster player - i.e what is expected for Killorn. Rakell is younger and carries a better contract, but is producing at this rate now. Given that Weegar is exactly what Anaheim needs and the first could potentially be 6-12, I think it's a steal because what they get in the long run would exceed Rakell.
I would add Serron Noel to this deal, given that ANA likely requires an overpay.

For me, the cap savings of the Leafs here don't make up for the decrease in talent.

There's only a difference of four points between Wallmark and Kerfoot this year, and Wallmark got less ice time, mostly playing the fourth line on Carolina and third on FLorida. Obviously kerfoot has done better prior to this year, but as of right now there's not much of a downgrade - especially given Wallmark would make > 2M

The cap difference would allow you to make another move to fill the more necessary need of a defenseman.

I wouldn't be willing to bank on this years performance from Wallmark unless the Leafs upgrade elsewhere. Kerfoot has the track record and is superior defensively. There is also a downgrade here from Holl to Brown in a position of need (RD).

I see toronto acquiring( weegar and wallmark) for (kerfoot, Dermott). Wallmark is a cheaper kerfoort and weegar has been playing solid with Ekblad on his offside so just picture him on his dominate side with rielly. Sad loosing dermott but our LD is locked and dermott is not a top 4 RD and pairing him with Sandin on the 3rd pairing could be risky

They’ve cut about $8 million in cap hit, but they’re still paying Stralman, so the actual money saved isn’t even close to $10 million.
