Not sure about that. Even if i like the Kids it’s very unlikely that he become a 30 + goal scorer. Hertl would provide Ottawa that much needed established Center they needed before Stutzle become that number one they will relied on. Ottawa must not do the same error that Edmonton did pas couple of year. You need veteran presence to grown your kids. And more likely some that aren’t 4th liner. But i agree that its a hefty price that Ottawa pay for Hertl.

Edmonton never had close to this amount of good prospects. They had McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge plus 2 F prospects in Yamamoto and Puljujarvi. The rest weren’t good. you cant play your rookies with plugs and expect them to light it up.

This is close to a playoff team plus still having 8 picks on first 3 rounds of 2020 draft. Competing for playoffs every year thereafter for awhile.

(Young forwards + goaltending is a question mark for 2021 playoffs for me — call it a coin flip chance they make it in with this roster).

There’s a huge opportunity in front of Dorion to get this organization in a great position long term. The Melnyk Effect puts the whole thing at risk, so we’ll see. Been a tough ride for OTT fans for years, so hopefully this club takes advantage.

Hall, eberle, gagner, nugent hopkins, alex plante, pajaarvi, lander, pytlick, yakupov, nugent hopkins they where all once ranked as very highly talented prospect and most of them never really had success. That a big list of top prospect.

I doubt Norris will be better than Hertl

Hertl was already playing in the NHL at 19 while Norris is about to be 21 and is still in the AHL. Obviously that doesn’t mean Norris can’t be better, but I highly doubt that he will be. I would still do the trade and let you guys keep our 2021 2nd if you want.

Norris has been lighting up the AHL and looked good playing in the NHL a few games and that Isles pick could be one of Brayden Schneider, Jan Mysak, Seth Jarvis, Noel Gunler those would be real good picks

2 of those pick where already adressed. Stutzle and Lafrenière.
And yes the main concern i have isn’t Dorion but the clown who pay is salary. Melnyk have tendencies of autodestruction. Dorion wanted to extend pageau but Melnyk put is vetoed again like always. Keeping Pageau around the kid would have been perfect for them to grown around a true professional.

This is a faintly upgraded package from the Pageau trade. And Hertl is significantly better than Pageau.
Norris is a good prospect, but you don't have the Sharks listening.

Mostly out of hope for Norris' development. I think they can get more for Hertl though.

At this point most Sharks fans are just desperate to start a rebuild instead of trying to convince themselves that they are competitors.

The shark would probably be better by trading older pieces like Burns and Couture. But they make a considerable amount of money and they aren’t getting younger. Doug Wilson have dig himself in a hole with all those big contract. There farm system is probably one of the worst in Nhl. They don’t have a lot of depth up front and defensively they have practically only three Nhl defenseman. Norris would instantly become their number one prospect and with the 15-20 pick of this year they would had another good young players. This summer won’t be the best time to fo shopping to.

I know Norris is a great prospect and is all but guaranteed to be a top 6 forward, but Hertl is definitely more valuable. This will be a great draft making the Islander's pick valuable, but Hertl isn't cheap.

Sharks probably accept this, let alone listen.

Norris will be a top 6 forward and San Jose should be able to get a top 6 forward in the draft with the Islander's pick. Neither of the 2 are likely going to be as good as Hertl, but still.

Better than Hertl though? Hertl is a top 5 2nd line center. This package is hardly an increase over what Kadri got.

I dont like to be a dick but that guy is always trying to give Hertl away. I dont take anything for Hertl less than a prospect whos going to be as good or better and Norris will not be.

Exactly. Im not taking anything less than a top ten pick or a top ten prospect back for Hertl. Hes 26 and could easily be a PPG player if healthy

I've trade Hertl in 1 out of 5 of my teams and that was if we decided to rebuild. Norris and the player selected with the Islander's pick have a very small chance of being as good as Hertl, but we are getting 2 top 6 forwards for one.

Your delusional if you think we're going to get our 2020 1st round pick for Hertl. Ottawa will probably use our pick to select someone like Stützle or Rossi who will very likely be point per game players. They will also be way younger than Hertl, adding more value.

Easily is maybe a bit exaggerated don’t you think. He only posted one season in those standard. I think that Hertl is a good players but he isn’t elite. The guy’s is in is 7th season and have been healthy for most of is career and only put up more then 50 points once. Twice if we consider this year. Hertl have very similar stats to Max Domi in arizona and Montreal.

Saying he can easily put up a point per game is really unrealistic since players like tavares or stamkos or kopitar who are consider elite and have proven year after year that they deserved that title are not a ppg producer or barely are.

If you think Hertl is Domi level you are operating under false pretenses, he is vastly better
