Why are the Leafs rejecting that? As if it is painfully obvious?

Why would any FA sign with a team if you buy Faulk out before he plays a game with that contract he signed

so u guys gave faulk a contract and immediately bought him out before he even played a game under it. Management would be a joke at that point

We don't need another bottom pairing man. Burtozzo isn't anything we need

You mean, getting rid of dead weight, acquiring a RHD (something we do need) and an extra pick in the process is not something we should entertain?

Were giving up a second and gaining a 4th and 3rd. I wouldn't say were gaining picks. Have you heard of Justin Holl or Timothy Liljegren. And travis Dermott. I rather have both of them over Burtozzo

If St. Louis did so something stupid as buyout Faulk before even played one game under the extension he signed that regime would never get a free agent to sign there again. It’s bad business on so many levels, and creates what a $3M cap hit for the next 12 years?

Doing that wouldn’t change the fact if they did it no FA would ever trust a single thing said not to mention their own players.

It's not every year that teams get a compliance buyout. Could you could say the same thing about Vancouver and Loui Eriksson then?

Faulk didn't play well this season... He his contract has the worst value on the team.

You're obviously suffering from some sort of head injury, but I cannot stress enough how nutsovision the Allen and Sunny trades are. Hell to the nizzle no.

Frankly, you just need to start over. Not trying to be mean, it is what it is.

Call it banter painted by brutal honesty. The savings of the Allen trade are decent enough, but we're not taking back a guy with long term concussion problems. Sunny is an incredibly valuable player, and you propose we ship him off for refuse of a similar cost with less control. These are huge honking no's, man. I won't even go into the rest.

I'd rather just keep Bozak and Steen at their current contracts instead of paying someone else to buy them out. That won't let us pay Hoffman or Krug, but the only UFA I want to be signing to any term and big money is Alex Pietrangelo.

Everyone is saying "Oh, we can't buyout Faulk before he's played a game on his new contract!" and while the optics of that aren't great for Blues management and a buyout, even a compliance one, for a contract that long probably doesn't make much sense anyway, the Blues need to be exploring any scenario they can to move Faulk's contract (assuming Pietrangelo re-signs) just from the simple reality that we cannot overpay a guy $6.5million to play on our third pairing. I'm sorry to all the people who think he's good, but he is at best the fourth-best defenseman on this team, and could very soon be fifth or six on that list. Faulk on the left hasn't worked. It's not a personal attack on him, there are tons of NHL teams who could find room for him considering how rare RHD are, but it's a cap league and just like we can't pay Jake Allen $4.5 million to play backup goalie, even though he's been elite, we can't play Faulk $6.5 million if he can't outplay Parayko or Pietrangelo and crack the lineup higher.
