2020-2021 Roster - Quarantine Edition - No cap raise 1 buyout

Créé par: TMarch
Équipe: 2020-21 Red Wings de Detroit

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
I don't think the NHL comes back this year, no cup awarded. No lottery, picks based on final standings.

1 compliance buyout in lieu of cap raise. Cap numbers are typically driven by previous year's revenues, and since revenues will be down to due a short season and no playoffs, NHL comes up with another way to give teams a little bit more money to spend.

Teams will still have to hit the ~61.5mm salary floor.
----------
-Signed Talbot to go with Bernier in a 1A/1B situation.
-Traded both Glendening and Helm at the draft. Glendening has more defensive value as a C then Helm, so he commands a little bit more return. Trades occur at draft to open spots up for Lafreniere, Rassmussen, and Svech.
-Veleno first F callup (running 1st line at GR to start the season). Pearson also in line for a promotion at some point (4th line C).
-Expect the line blender to occur between lines 1 and 2, and 3 and 4. Could see Lafreniere moving to the top line over time (plus to just find the right combos). Zadina's numbers showed 1st line potential too.
-Not a playoff team yet, but significantly better at both ends of the ice.

they will need to be more aggressive in free agency, overpay on short term if they have to. I sure hope Nielsen retires because realistically he has no place in the NHL any more.

They're gonna start the playoffs in June. The season won't be cancelled there's no way the owners are going to allow them to cancel the playoffs unless its complete Armageddon. It really depends on what we do at this point. You want hockey? Stay inside and social distancing

You are right. I just don't think they will just yet. I think Stevie knows he is a few years out, and there is some talent coming up from Europe (Tuomisto, Solderblom, Grewe, Johansson, Berglund) and college (Phillips, Mastrosimone, Gylander, Moore, Barton) along with at least 1 more set of picks coming to clean out the rest of KH's mess, then start looking at FAs. Seider is only 19 (and could end up being the best Dman in that draft), Lafreniere is only 18, and the average age of the rest is way down (only 5 guys over 30, and none signed more than 2 years remaining at this point).

Yeah well good luck with that then, CDC already said that this could go well into July and possibly August. So i doubt there's going to be any hockey this year.

That is a very optimistic prediction. Now that the US is testing more people the amount of confirmed cases has gone through the roof and we are starting to get a realistic view of how bad it really is. From yesterday to today the US has more 10K confirmed new cases.

Its a complicated situation. South Korea and China (if you believe the communist party) were able to limit their cases by quarantining everyone and shutting everything down. If you don't interact with anyone you can't get the disease. The problem with that is in the United States many people can't do that because they have to work. So the sooner they come up with some relief package for people so they don't have to work, the sooner the disease won't have anyone to infect. Or maybe it will just infect everyone and everyone will be immune to it. I just view this as an early summer vacation
