Description
Main thing is selling high on Allen and Sanford to get depth and players that fit Berube's style. They seem like they are good pieces but they come at expendable positions (backup and middle 6 forward). I'm firmly on the #KeepPetro bandwagon. He took over for a beloved captain in Backes and rallied the team around Chief to lead us to a SC.

The CBJ move is giving them a center that they need as well as selling high on Sanford who may get a more established role there. We get two players who play the game that helped us wear down teams in the playoffs and really are upgrades on Steen and Maroon from that run. I've always been a fan of Jenner because he plays like Steen. I think that Anderson is a perfect partner for Thomas and will benefit from his playmaking like he did playing with Panarin. I also think that Faulk was brought in as Expansion Draft bait. My theory is that we're planning to sweeten the deal so that we make sure he's taken. If Anderson kicks it into gear, Kostin may be the guy who goes. If Anderson does alright, we can ship him to Seattle and bet on Kostin who plays a similar game.

The TOR deal is dependent on them moving one of their great young forwards for defense and getting some cap space. I think they do this if they fail to make a run in the playoffs this year. Allen is best in a 1A/1B role but Binnington seems to be best as the guy. Allen and Andersen could be deadly. STL really could use another D prospect, specifically from the right side. If TOR doesn't want to give up Lilj, WSH could be another team that would be interested in Allen for a duo with Samsonov and make a run next year.

I think this is a physical team that can skate and score on all lines and pairings. Steen just can't be held onto if the cap doesn't do a big jump, either LTIR or a buyout but this way he can still be around the team and provide leadership. The future looks bright with solid D and goalie prospects, young forwards, and cap space for additional moves.

Détails additionnels:
If one of their top forwards is moved for defense and free up cap, Allen would make a great 1B with Andersen for a year and give them a killer G duo. The pick could be swapped for a D prospect if it's not enough.

Selling high on allen lol. Have you check the list of goalie that hit the market this summer. At least 10 are superior or equal to allen. Why a team would gave a top prospect for a backup goalie who make way too much money when they can sign a khudobin or halak or talbot or elliot, etc... and they will cost no assets and less money

That's what I was saying about moving someone like Marner/Nylander for a RHD. Y'all free up space and Campbell did well but Allen has shown he can be a really good guy to ride when he's hot or come in occasionally if the other guy is doing well. There's a weird stigma between Leafs and Blues fans after all the proposed trades from the last few years but this seems like a win win.

CBJ Says no. There Selling High on Anderson if there gonna deal him. They Do Not need Bozak and his cap hit
This Toronto Trade Makes 0 Sense, Toronto is Also in Cap Hell. And there trading their best RHD For a Goalie with a Bad Cap Hit and is Hit/Cold, a Struggling Prospect and a 5th, What?. If you’re gonna get Liljegren you’re gonna likely say Goodbye to Either Thomas because that’s the price for Liljegren, Also Add a Defensive Prospect(a Solid One)

I like the fact of adding allen but we already payed for Campbell fans here love him, and honestly yeah marner or nylander will go for a right defense but trading them to make room for one and another goalie meh when andersons contract is up Blues better be careful lul Binnington may be their target.

Columbus declines. Bozak isn’t an upgrade on Jenner or Wennberg. He’s also older then both of them. Colukbus needs a 2nd line center... not more 3rd line centers. Stanford doesn’t really add anything to the trade as he’s not a very good or even higher level prospect. And Columbus is adding a pick... yikes...

I could see Columbus and St. Louis looking at a trade around Allen and Anderson if we choose to move on from Korpisalo and the other goalies aren’t ready. Allen is most effective when he has a more even split of games, he’s not a great starter and even worse as a backup who played less then 20 games.

Toronto has no cap space and if they did they would spend it on a RHD not a backup goalie. They just gave up two 2nds to get Campbell.

Pietrangelo isn't signing AAV unless its for 8 years.

Sorry. But Toronto doesn’t have the cap space for that trade. Also, if were giving up Liljegren, I want Bortuzzo or gunnarson.

Done. Those guys are third pairing guys at best. Gunnarsson can play up if needed but also is super injury prone

Everyone's picking apart the Toronto trade but what is this obsession, not just with the poster but across a lot of Blues fans, with getting players that "fit Berube's style"? We won a cup with these players, what more style is there to fit? I'm not saying keep everyone you won the cup with, obviously, but we don't need to make roster changes just for the sake of making roster changes, which is what is happening with that Columbus trade from my perspective. Not to mention it makes very little sense- both of the Columbus players are younger and (marginally) better than the two we'd be sending, why does Columbus add the pick? Why does Anderson take a paycut from his last contract when he's an RFA? There's little precedent for that, even if the player has regressed (look at the contract Ceci got this summer). I obviously don't hate the idea of picking up younger and better players in general but given our cap situation I'd rather just take Sanford for another year since he's already signed and replace Bozak's spot with someone internally- Kyrou, Kostin and Blais are all trying to consistently crack the lineup.

Good coaches fit the style to the players, not the other way around.
