OK I will give u credit you improved our defense. Not sure if the other teams would take these deals as Florida would get worse defensively and Carolina would be robbing us of a good goalie no offence to reimer but Freddie is a real staring goalie and reimer is alright but not perfect. Also Toronto will not move from him till his contract expires. Holl aint moving it would probably have to be dermott as Muzzin-Holl have great chemistry and defensive numbers. Overall though not bad.

Florida is trying to cut expenses, do you even realize what Marner's signing bonuses are? Reimer has been solid in Carolina. Andersen is overall a better goalie but thats an overpayment. Also Andersen cant sign an extension until December.

Not to mention Carolina doesn't really need to improve at goalie. Their system allows them to plug pretty much anyone in and they'll do ok. Exhibit A: a Zamboni driver.

The key to that system, of course, is that Carolina, with Dundon's full approval, has an absolutely lavish budget for defensemen. If they deal someone like Pesce, a very good goalie starts to become necessary. I would definitely still say hell no to that deal, though. I'd personally only deal Pesce if a player like Laine was the return.

The leafs dont need to be giving up all that just to make their top 4 that good. That's no need to dig huge holes just to fill a different hole. Without marner the offense is extremely weak

Extremely weak is a pretty big exaggeration. They got Matthews, Nylander and Tavares and no weak lines. Sure they won't have the top offence in the league but they'd still be top 10 and have a much better D core.

Except having one of muzzin or pesce as a 4th defenseman is a waste. They would be far better off trading for severson or signing gudas instead of giving up a ton of assets that will end up holding back sandin and liljegren in the long run

Ekblad is a number 2 D on most teams whereas Marner is a top line winger. Marner is also younger and better.

If Toronto retained 25% on Marner that would be essentially having Ekblad at a caphit of over 10.25M per season whereas Marner would be at 8.5M per season. On top of this you are saying Toronto adds???
