And why do they think that adding a bunch of “decent” pieces will equal the “great” return he’d get if the Sabres did move him?

You do realize there is absolutely no proof that Eichel wants out of Buffalo. Without Panarin Strome has averaged just over 30 points a season. Andersson threw a temper tantrum at the World Juniors that ended with him throwing his silver medal into the stands and then he walked on his team midseason. This isn't even close to getting NYR Eichel.
