Description
Okposo buyout on LTIR.
Round 1-Marco Rossi
Round 2-Tyson Foerster
Round 4-Owen Pederson

Set up expansion draft so Seattle takes Ullmark since UPL should be ready to take over.
If UPL isn't ready to take over then you likely lose one of Miller, Edmundson, Anderson, Kahun.
In that "worst case" you should have Cozens, Rossi, Pekar, Bryson, Fitzgerald to step up.

I always thought Edmundson was a decent stay at home defenseman... Someone who could help stabilize Risto... If not then I'd find a different person there... Atkinson has had a disastrous year and Anderson, although marred by injuries has been worse... I thought it would be fair but I know you think less than dirt of Montour and Thompson so I assumed I'd get a comment from you

I've looked into Thompson lately and hes an alright prospect. I dont see him on the powerplay when you have dahlin, reinhart, Mojo, Eichel, olofsson, ristolainen and a bunch of other guys. At his best hes probably a josh Anderson type of guy. I legitimately dont think montour is any good. His xGAR is extremely low and his GAR is pretty middle of the pack except for the fact that hes been on the ice for a ton of goals for. Hes not pushing play in the right direction and hes generally useless unless hes got the puck on his stick in the defensive or neutral zone. The big difference in his xGAR and his GAR shows that hes been extremely lucky. Based off his results hes never been very good and neither have his underlying numbers. Before people thought it was Caralyle's fault but he hasn't been good in buffalo either.

Are we confident Buffalo would buy out Okposo 6x 3 18 million over Skinner's 9 x 7 63 million? I know there's hope in a Skinner bounce back but really Skinner has always been a 25 goal 50 pt player

Absolutely. I personally doubt we ever see Skinner without Eichel ever again and that should lead to much better production. They left him on an island this year and they know it. Skinner is probably overpaid by 2 million dollars a year. Okposo is overpaid by 5-6 million dollars a year. Relative production per dollar says buyout Okposo.

How anyone thought Skinner could drive his own line is beyond my comprehension.

If Mitts’ value is so low that we gotta add Samuelsson AND a 2nd, then maybe we should just keep Mitts?

Gotta give Cbus another piece
They’re trying to win now it seems
And idk if they’d wanna “sell low” on both Atkinson & Anderson

You are both correct, unfortunately Skinner is paid to drive a line, I'm just looking at the long-term cap scenerio of 6 million dead cap in Okposo for 3 years vs 9 million of Skinner for 7 the long game suggests get out from under Skinner but that's just my pov

Mitts value shouldn't be any where near that low, he's a kid yet and with proper development should still become a productive 3 C at minimum or 2 C if all goes well

Its an interesting idea, okposo or skinner. Keep in mind that management did skinner absolutely no favors this year- last time i looked his 2 most common linemates were johansson and sheary, and johansson not being a center is hard to overlook. Olofsson was on pace for 30 before injuries bit him, but he looks just fine with eichel. So if you put skinner on eichels left and drop olofsson down, its the same problem, except now you can more easily make the case that skinner deserves the money because the numbers are better. I admit that skinner is overpaid, by 2 million at least, and i am anxiously awaiting a new gm so that we dont give reinhart the same deal. I would buy out okposo unless the cap crunch was so bad that we had to buy out skinner. At the end of the day i think a solid #2 center gets skinner to the point where hes producing but overpaid, and its not ideal, but that happens sometimes.

Mostly agree with what you've said. I'll add tho that any player who has success in Buffalo will probably get overpaid for Buffalo to keep said player.

It's just not as desirable a place to be as other NHL cities.
