Basically here I'm trying to guess at who each team would buyout if given the chance. For the sake of continuity I won't pick any players with NMCs as they may be exempt by the CBA. I will also allow a team to use their "free buyout" to take an already bought out player off their cap hit (ie; Corey Perry from Anaheim). All hypothetical, let me know if I made a mistake on your team but I'm not here to debate the likeliness of this scenario because we could all be dead by this time tomorrow so I'm not really worried about debating that lol
Teams who don't use their buyouts:
Arizona Coyotes
Boston Bruins
Colorado Avalanche
St. Louis Blues
Vegas Golden Knights
Buyouts used on previously bought out caphits:
Anaheim - Corey Perry 6.25 this season, 2.00 the next two.
Calgary - Troy Brouwer 1.50 the next two seasons.
Dallas Stars - Valeri Nichushkin 0.45 for one season.
Florida Panthers - Scott Darling 2.33 this season and 1.18 for two more.
LA Kings - Dion Phaneuf 4.06 this season and 1.06 for two more.
NY Rangers - Kevin Shattenkirk 6.08 this season and 1.43 for two more.
I'm not going to allow teams to make trades in this hypothetical... in theory, unless it is written that they can't an ideal candidate for such a thing would be NJD so they can buyout both Subban and Schneider or ANA to get Perry's hit and Backes both off the cap.
Little has an NMC so he was exempt from my made up rules. Otherwise I would have agreed with you.
Sorry I was thinking this would happen like next season, but it would be in the summer when his NMC is still in effect. Because next year it changes from an NMC to a Modified-NTC.

Ohhh that's interesting... I wonder if there's other people that would have that change take place this offseason that I didn't consider... Nice catch!
