Description
Flat Cap Scenario for 2020-21 Season
(My First Team Post - Go Easy MoFo's)

* Line 1 - Studnicka into top RW job; the legs to get Marchand the puck for strong left-side goal scoring prowess. As well, Stud plays with mentor Bergy right now as 37's contract is ticking away...
* Line 2 - Pasta w/ Krejci-DeBrusk solid second (first) and bulk of goals come of the right side.
(The 1-2 line punch should force the opposition to defend their entire zone for most of the game)!

* The NHL regulars all get a good raise in 20-21 via "hometown" discount and if need be Moore is waived 1st if the s#it hits the fan w/ the Cap Cops etc. etc.

I like studs potential too but I doubt he starts with berg. I'd pencil him in with krejci maybe.

For sure, very fluid/changeable line combos. They're not set in stone, just a first case-scenario to try out maybe.

Yeah like labels aside I think coyles line gets more ice than krejci at this point. But bjork, ritchie, kase, stud, debrusk who knows how they sort them out. They could even move one really if they wanted.

Very true on Coyle and with the potential for a trade (especially pre-expansion as they'll lose one roster player).

Only criticism here is I think you're light on Krug's contract. That's a helluva homer discount for a guy that sees $8.5 million or so on the open market.

Yeah I think he ranges from US$6.5 to 7.5M w/ Boston and the "hometown discount" so I chose the lower end. There's still Cap room in this post for a raise and the B's are legit Cup contenders so that's a plus; but yeah it's tight!!
With the likelihood of a flat or declining Cap I'm thinking he's missed the key timing window to have made a top-end deal pre-COVID meltdown...?

No he is looking at 7.5 on the open martket, and 6.75 at home this is actually great.

The only bad one is Halak who is going to go for at least 4.5 somewhere else

Thought Halak was a stretch. Hoping for the potential of team success to be the reason he would stay versus a re-build nightmare such as DET or SJ or CHI for example.
Would more term work; make it 3yrs?

i dont really like having stud on the wing. Hes a pure C and it would be terrible to have another seguin scenario.

Fair point as he was doing great in the AHL and looks to be ready for the big club.
Thought the top job on the R-side would be a plum assignment for Butch to try as mentioned in the explanation.
Cheers

I think if they come very close to the cup again he could maybe take a 1 year deal. Bruins dont want him long term though. They got Tuukka for right now, and Kyle Keyser has been amazing coming up the system. If they win a cup, he goes elsewhere, and if he doesnt think they are his best chance at winning he goes elsewhere. So i guess to keep him you are really looking at like a final 4 finish to make him want to stay for less money

Just don't see Boston using Studnicka on the RW. If they even thought it could be a possibility, why haven't they tried it already? They were in the market for a RW, but at no point did they even hint that Studnicka could be an option. I think you're likely to see next year that Studnicka goes to #3C and Coyle will either go to #2RW or, #3RW to help Studnicka if he struggles.

Thanks for the Keyser update, I wasn't sure who was the best G-Man prospect between Keyser/Vladar. With expansion looming and if Halak walks, the Bruins need to secure a #1 netminder cause Rask is UFA at the end of next season?!

Thought management might be 'over-seasoning' him in the minors? He's definitely playing well at centre and "anyone can play wing" they say!
You're right tho, if he was to be a RW option wouldn't they have tried by now or before the TDL...

Idk man, I mean I feel like Tuukka will retire a bruin, and probably take less money as he gets older, but obviously depends on both his play and that of the team. I agree though, gotta start thinking about the future of goaltending

This was Keyser first year in the system and here played 7 games due to a concussion. Kid had a lot of upside, but health is a concern. B's also went out yesterday and signed Swayman. He's basically carried Maine for 3 years and iirc he faced the most shots in NCAA this year and had the 2nd best SV%.

Wouldn't be surprised if Vladar becomes the #2 next year in Boston with Keyser/Swayman splitting time in Providence
