Everything is possible at that point. If the season is finally cancel it will have major influence on next year cap.

It was talked about already, thought is it would be similar to the last lock out where the cap would remain at the 81.5 it currently is and wouldn't move up for a couple of seasons, I can see the season starting up again in May at the latest and playoffs run till Training camp lol

Fingers crossed that if it's the same or drops (Doubt it), that they'd allow a compliance buyout or two (also doubtful)...

There is no way to know how long this will last. It may end in May/June. It may ramp back up in the fall/early winter with next flu season.

Covid-19 is not affected by the weather like typical flu. Expert models are saying 3 to 6 months of continued spread at least in the US (North America) until it plateaus and we see a decrease in infection rates.

Its not clear yet if it will be. I've seen projections of both. Some saying a continuous season. I have also seen predictions of a bimodal distribution.

One has to wonder then why there has been infection and spread in areas in which the temps are above 20 degrees C

For sure, but influenza doesn't fully avoid those areas either. Part of the reason flu's peak is also human behavior in different seasons, collecting inside in the cold, and the like. But we shall see.

A hockey blog isn't really the best place to discuss this smile Hahaha

(Frankly my nonCapFriendly life is very heavy in corona virus, and I'd rather discuss other things while on here).

I don't disagree if we want to dive into the weeds on Covid-19, but nonetheless there is obviously a impact to the NHL and I don't think that is short term and will have little to do with seasonal weather patterns so won't be surprised to see this season entirely cancelled and even next season delayed as this virus exponentially spreads in North America over the next 3 to 6 months before hitting a plateau.

There would multiple teams in trouble cap wise if it was to lower, if it's lowered a compliance buyout seems reasonable if stagnant at 81.5 probably no buy-out
