Description
Another option for 3RW is sending Wahlstrom back to the AHL (if he's not ready of course) and signing someone like Granlund or Galchenyuk to a 1 year $4.5M "prove it" deal.

Détails additionnels:
Doesn't necessarily have to be Saad. But the idea is to trade Bailey for a pending UFA of similar skill (who likely wouldn't stay with his current team). The team acquiring Bailey gets some security knowing they've got a guy locked up for a few years. Isles get more flexibility down the line without significantly downgrading.

Other candidates for this: Stepan, Palmieri, Schwartz etc

Matheson is overrated and carries a pretty big cap hit for the next 6 years. I’d rather have Aho/Vande sompel or sign Greene for a year until one of them are ready

I think Aho is your best shot but I moved him to shed Ladd. Agree signing Greene back could work. I do like that Matheson is more of a true defensive d-man though. Basically Greene but a lot younger. He might thrive in this system and the contract will look like the bargain FLA intended it to be. We still save *a little* money upfront which also helps

I get what you’re saying, but pelech -pulock, toews-dobson is a very good top 4. Toews has struggled but he will come around, he’s a solid 2nd pairing D. I’d rather use that cap space for offense

Calgary has negative holes on LD, actually they have so many anti-holes there that 1 of their LD is out all season, 1 was sent down because hes waiver exempt and still 2 of their LD are playing on the right side.

They're prob losing Brodie and Gustafsson in FA. Gio is turning 37, Hanifin was mentioned on TSN trade bait. I don't think it's too far fetched. Could be another team though. Just an example.

I doubt they all of Brodie, Gus, Hamonic, and Forbort. Almost certainly at least 1 is resigned. Valimaki is NHL ready, Kylington has proven himself. Hanifin wont be moved for anything less then a potential 2C of Domi caliber.

I wonder if Florida would do something like Leddy and Ladd for Matheson. For Florida, they'd upgrade on defense and get out of a long contract. For NYI they downgrade on defense but shed Ladd.

I don’t know if the Hawks are looking for Bailey. He’s 30 and still has 4 years left so you worry a bit about regression. He’s more offensively minded than Saad but Saad still scores 20 a year and is more defensively minded. He’s also 2 years younger, but more expensive. Offense isn’t an issue for the Hawks. So acquiring a more offensive guy may not be of pressing need.

I’d prefer to keep Saad. Though I think the value is fair in the trade. It’s overall a good trade.

Saad would stay with the Hawks if I were to guess, but they would not want Bailey since they are retooling

I doubt that they would take Ladd for that swap. We would have to add IMO. Florida isn't exactly booming with cap space and they've got their own free agents to take care of
