As a Ducks fan, I say if they cancel the season, they just let teams pick alphabetically...so Anaheim #1, Arizona (New jersey) #2, Boston (Anaheim) #3, etc.

I propose a lottery system for the bottom 10 teams with the top 3 same way as they do it now. Bottom 21 teams get a lottery with equal chances

If the season were canceled (doubt that would happen, suspended and postponed seems more likely) the lottery would be based on current point totals (winning percentage to be more precise)

That would kill me. Sens currently sitting at like a 2 in 3 chance of getting at least one top 3 pick. That would be straight up cruel.

This whole coronavirus situation is so dumb. The thing is less deadly than the common flu.

I get it spreads fast and could be an issue. But suspending play is ridiculous. Maybe play in empty arenas, but why suspend play lol. Makes no sense.

American media is a joke, they blow everything so out of proportion. Unless you’re living in poor living conditions and/or have a poor immune system. You won’t die. Like this **** is so dumb. Media blows it up and people erupt into a panic. Just use common sense, wash your hands and practice good hygiene you’ll be fine. You can’t let a stupid disease dictate your life.

Agree completely. I’m in LA area and people have literally bought all the water and toilet paper in the whole fn town. Everyone calm down. It’s just a different named flu. If your old or sick you have to be careful just like the regular flu. Flu kills tons of people every year and you hear nothing. Last year my kids class had like 20 kids out with the flu in a 2 week period. It went thru my whole house and I ended up with pneumonia. Not once did they talk about closing school. This year 2 or 3 kids have been out since all this started and they are talking about closing the entire school down. It sucks I get it but it is way blown up.

I doubt this would have considering theres in around dozens game left for ea. team. Heck they didn't even give equal chance for all 3 teams for the 2013 draft (with the shorten season) or even the 2005 Crosby Sweepstake (due to lockout, the lottery was based past performance and the winner of the 2004 lottery)

HAHA! If any team deserves a shot at the lottery, its Detroit with how bad they've been. They've clinched last place before any team clinched a playoff spot! That's record breaking! Holy moly could you imagine if Detroit doesn't get a lottery pick? The entire organization would be up in arms.

Prevention is the best form of protection against this disease. Just be alert and sanitary. Avoid large spaces so your "healthcare system" doesn't get overwhelmed.

I also don't think they would quarantine an entire country (8th largest economic power in the world) if it was just the flu.

It's a flu with no vaccine and a death rate of 3% (mostly elderly) also is transferred a lot easier then a normal flu. Once that NBA player tested positive the NBA had no choice, I agree that the NHL should take steps first before canceling like empty arenas etc but thinking it's being blown out proportion is wrong. If anything, especially in the States, its showing how unprepared the world is for a fast spreading disease like this.

You're both right though, if you're young and healthy you will survive it but if you're over 55 or have a illness that is already making you weak then your chances drop, drastically.
