By the time this contract is over, LA will have a new #1 center. Kopitar will literally pass the crown.

better two in the running then three. Get you a bit stronger wing prospect depth and it's a pretty stacked team to-be.

Yeah. The person we draft either needs to be a winger or defenseman. Vilardi can also play RW which may be his NHL future, but I like him at center.

Sucks that Wisconsin loses him. Pretty much makes Caufield coming to Laval a must.

I just noticed something guys:

Alex Turcotte | Los Angeles| 5th Overall Pick | 2019 Draft
2019-20 Statistics | NCAA | University of Wisconsin | Rookie

Games = 29
Goals = 9
Assists = 17
Points = 26
Plus Minus = -10
Points Per Game = 0.89
Points Per 82 Games = 73

Cole Caufield | Montreal | 15th Overall Pick | 2019 Draft
2019-20 Statistics | NCAA | University of Wisconsin | Rookie

Games = 36
Goals = 19
Assists = 17
Points = 36
Plus Minus = -3
Points Per Game = 1.00
Points Per 82 Games = 82

Nick Abruzzese | Toronto | 124th Overall | 2019 Draft
2019-20 Statistics | NCAA | Harvard University | Rookie

Games = 31
Goals = 14
Assists = 30
Points = 44
Plus Minus = +8
Points Per Game = 1.42
Points Per 82 Games = 117

Pretty wild stuff we're seeing here ... Talk about a complete reversal of fortunes.
We're comparing high 1st rounders (5th + 15th) to a late 4th rounder (124th).
And this is just their D+1 seasons ... it's not like a lot of time has gone by.
Truly and utterly shocking results ... I am literally speechless.

One was 20 years old and two of them were 18 in there first year of college, i would say caufield's and turcotte's numbers were more impressive, thats not to take away from what abruzzese was able to do though, still impressive

I voted no because I believe guys like Caulfield and Turcotte should spend at least two years in college. It's better for them win the long run not just in hockey but in life.

Now that he's out, I hope he develops into what we all hope he is. And I have the same hope for Caulfield.

They are all NCAA rookies and currently in their first year of college (so they have equal experience).

And the age gap is less than 2 years.

Yeah, Abruzzese is a great find later in a draft, but he is an overager so you can't just flat out compare him to 18 year olds.

I mean I know it's a low salary, but committing three years to a guy who has yet to score an NHL point!!??! That seems like a bad deal. Also, with the bonus structure, it adds a lot of risk, potentially stealing money from future year's cap or having to set aside money to pay a player who may never live up to the expectations.

Honestly, I don't think ELC's make any sense. Teams should just wait until the player is 27-28 and are UFA guys with proven track records, that's the way to build a winner.

Hmmm... I think we should invent a sarcastic font option.

As someone who voted No, let me tell you my reason. Watching Turcotte both in College and in the WJC, I don't think he's ready. They took him out of college too early. Should have been there at least one more year. You don't want him to end up on a similar trajectory as Jost which is what people fear.

Being 2 years older probably explains more of the difference than anything else.

There's a reason team Canada is almost always filled with 19 YO's. The skill difference between 18 and 19 YO's is massive.
