This is really out there man. Most of those trades are horribly lopsided for Montreal. And a lot of them depend on every player signing an extension, well that just isn't going to happen. I get you want to turn your pending UFA's into something different, but these are pretty lost in reality.

Ya on paper it might look like the trades favor MTL in the future. But if that's the case NYI accepts in a heart beat. Unless you think I'm over valuing all my assets (roster players and prospects). Which is a norm around here for Habs fans to be criticized for.

Maybe...but they won't laugh. Paying a 30 yr old goalie 10 mill when you already have Knight in the pipeline, indicates that you going for it now. That line of Gally, Danault, Tatar is for real if you want to be an immidiate contender.

I wouldn't, but I don't have that much faith in Suzuki and I think we've got enough worries at center as is without downgrading the top end even further.

I'm just not sure why teams make these deals. They are all ahead of you in the standings, yet you want them to trade their young, excellent players to you for prospects. Why are these teams looking to get worse? I don't understand the logic of the Islanders deal. They don't need the players you are offering, they need Barzal.

If they were willing to part with those pieces then Brodin would have been a Panther at the deadline.

I'm I missing something? Why the hell would MTL want to do that Florida trade?

Denisenko is an interesting prospect. Matheson is a serviceable bottom 4 defensemen. Tippit and Borgstrom are mid-to-late 1st round picks who haven't exactly delivered on their potential, are probably AHL players - especially Borgstrom.

Yet, MTL would lose Tatar who's on pace for 70+ points, Gallagher who's cemented himself as a 30 goal scorer, and Danault who came 7th last year in Selke voting and looking to match or improve that this year.

If Montreal is actually selling their first line, they would need picks, and more than one A prospect

Fair argument on all points except for Tipet. Rookie year in AHL and shouldnt be labelled a bust just yet considering the decent season he's having.

I don't know how these prospects will pan out in all honesty, but they're ranked in the top 5 of FLA's prospect pool.

But my main objective is to create cap space to sign Barzal, Dubois and Anderson. I want to acquire a legit 1-2 punch down the middle and build around that. Hence the reason why I'm also acquiring young prospect wingers, that hopefully some of them click with MB and PLD and can grow together. It's all a gamble in the end. We have enough picks, I prefer to get young A and B level prospects that I can experiment with immidiately.

There's no way I'm resigning Gally and TT. They'll be way too old by the time this team contends for a cup with the philosophy of this management.

Brodin wouldn't make a difference. FLA should have a good shot at signing Krug instead.

Your statement mainly applies for the NYI trade. Cause in the other trades I'm giving up roster players for prospects. I don't know if they do it and I won't fight hard to convince you. I'm going on the hunch that NYI would prefer to take my package (my top C prospect, my 2 top LD prospects and top RD prospect) than to pay MB 10+mill. I know it looks like a step back, but that step forward might happen sooner rather than later. Bright side is that you'll have enough cap to sign Hall if you wish.

In this kind of scenario, I feel like securing at least a pick is essential. Just looked over the Athletic's ranking of Florida's prospect pool (at 11th in the league), Denisenko is at the top of their tier list with Spencer Knight. Tippet is their only player in the second tier. Perhaps I was too harsh with him, but I'd be hesitant to translate AHL success to the NHL, he's described as 'lacking in his defensive game' so maybe he'll improve in his future.
If Montreal is losing those 3 players, I'd expect a return for players still in their teens, or draft picks.
Florida's pool prospect is not that deep for a team that never sees the playoffs, they don't hit on their lower draft picks, so they probably don't have too much maneuvrability. It means they probably overvalue Denisenko, because he's really all they have going for them when it comes to skaters.

I don't care if they accept or not. I'm trying to make a point to the poster cause he said "why would these teams give up their precious young prospects for the roster players I'm offering". And my response was that basically everyone's prospects are precious except for MTL's. So he's saying that every MTL roster player and every prospect are ****. Yet MTL's prospect pipeline is ranked in the top 5 on most lists published.

I hope that was clear enough for you after this ***ing breakdown.
