If you are going to trade Marner, you better get bonafide pieces for him. I would call neither Manson nor Rakell bonafide pieces worthy of Marner's value, and that is combined value. Sure, Josh Manson is a good defender that brings elements and pieces to his game that this team lacks, but with all the media hype surrounding his "potential" availability, his value has climbed much higher than it ought to be. Manson is not a top pairing guy, and yes, Anaheim may love him as a player, but that doesn't mean the Leafs have submit to their crazy and unrealistic values. If you are watching to trade Mitch Marner, you have to consider salary cap a huge part. So I would imagine you would want some young prospects and perhaps A+ defender prospects back. I would imagine only a few teams meet such a criteria.
