I am on record saying that the Devils would be foolish to trade Severson mostly because of his team friendly cost and term and the fact they have nothing in the pipeline at RD as opposed to what they have at LD. But Liljegren is a RD. Make the pick a first and the Devils consider it.

Part of the obsession, is the Leafs are looking for a certain "type" of defenseman to play with Rielly. What we need is a two-way or defensive focussed defenseman, ideally more physical, who has shown he can play 21+ minutes against top competition on the right side. Bonus points if under 27 and signed for term.

Essentially what we need is another Muzzin who is comfortable on the right. The problem with Muzzin and Rielly is that neither are as effective on the right. If they were we could roll:
Muzzin-Rielly
Dermott-Holl/Barrie
Sandin/Ceci-Holl/Barrie

Next year
Muzzin-Rielly
Dermott-Holl
Sandin-Liljegren

But alas it does not work

Depends I suppose. But if they can get a guy in his prime who can play comfortably in that role for a few years than yeah. I'm just not sure who such a player is.
