It's not bad value, but it doesn't meet either team's needs. Edler remains a higher end defensive defenseman.

It is terrible Value. Mikheyev looks like a Hyman 2.0 (who is THE most undervalued Leaf by far). No way are we moving him for an overpaid waiver player and a rapidly declining Dman who is Left handed. Mik is also expansion draft exempt.

That would be a Fleecing.

You'd have to start in the next season when they are up, still EP probably gonna eat up most of that 10 million and Leafs aren't taking Edler try the Habs they love aging Dmen

Why would Toffoli, Markstrom, Barrie and Hoffman take short term deals? Those guys will be looking to cash in big time.

He's old, but he has been better this year and last year than then back then. His work in his own end is most impressive. He was awful on the PP, which no longer is a concern due to the team filling out beneath him.

To be fair, I don't know exactly what Mikheyev's value is. But Edler at 4.5M is definitely not an over payment. Whenever Edler is injured/out of our lineup, it shows on our record. He is a defensive stud and definitely our best defenseman (Hughes will overtake him soon, but Hughes is not strong enough defensively for me to give that nod yet)

We had no choice but to give Edler $6M. It was either give him too much short term, or deal with a NMC for the Seattle expansion draft. For what he provides for those two years, you won't find a canuck fan that labels him overpaid.

Edler, retained this much, should get about a pair of 2nds. Martinez to compare.

Fortunately though, he isn't going to be traded so we don't need to discuss his value with much legitimacy.

I typically write what I want the extensions to be in the description. I'm wondering why you named the thread this without any actual extension.

That Leaf trade is pretty awful, but that's beside the point. Extension for Petterson would be a direct Leon Draistall comp. $8.5 million over 8 years seems pretty fair, though I would imagine Elias would want closer to $10 per season. Hughes will likely look to the Chabot extension, so $8 million over 8 years. Lots of term for some good young players.

If it were that easy JayBlue you'd be in Jim Bennings chair for sure! You somehow managed to cleanup every mess - voila (win every trade for all the overpaid Canuckle-stiffs like Loui, Sutter, Benn, Roussel, Beagle and Baertschi)
* Only 20 on the roster (need up to 23)

For sure, but you have to build it in full to see the Cap situation and no NHL team has competed over 82 w 20 guys - it's suicide.

I'm like sure Markstrom will get a big payday - long term...
2 years? For what reason? He is UFA and a proven/solid goalie(some say mvp of the team this year) - no need to take bridges at age of ~ 30 or whatever is that offer tears of joy

Every team says no. What’s the point of mentioning their extensions, without saying what they are?
