They Wild haven't been in sell mode since the lockout. A long drawn out rebuild wasn't even on the owner/GM(s) mind.
-Nino, Granny, and Coyle were traded for younger NHL players last year (with varying success), but it was a roster cleanup more than anything.
-Zucc and Spurgeon aren't signed this offseason if the team was going into rebuild mode.
-Zucker was traded because he was expensive and expendable on the roster. Chucky was a cap dump, but I'm liking him more and more every game as a player.
-Staal was re-signed and not traded for futures last TDL.
-Any potential Brodin/Dumba trade was after a very specific thing, not just whatever.
The core of the FWDs is shifting to the younger guys (JEE, Fiala, and Kunin), basically those that weren't been polluted by Yeo's years. Even the team's on-ice demeanor has shifted away from the Koivu style/attitude of play to more of a Parise/Foligno style/attitude (even before BB was fired).
The prospect pool is as good or better than it was in the 2011/12 years; that's not even counting the 5 guys 23 or younger on the NHL roster already.
