Vegas chooses Lehner and Ducks Rebuild

Créé par: Chapee44
Équipe: 2020-21 Sabres de Buffalo
Date de création initiale: 8 mars 2020
Publié: 8 mars 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Hopefully Getzlaf and Fleury can bring the culture change we so evidently need.

Expansion protection: Skinner, Eichel, Tuch, Olofsson, Reinhart, Kahun, Mittlestadt, Dahlin, Jokiharju, Miller, Ullmark.

If this team can contend they would be in a spot for a rental dman at the deadline such as Petry, Brodin, etc.

This is not what I think is probable but could be interesting to see play out.

It didn't list his NMC in the ACGM so I missed it... but never say never! He could if the right puzzle pieces look like they're coming together. But as I said it's not probable. Just an idea.

Fair enough. As a Ducks fan, I don’t see him leaving Anaheim. He’s got a cup, lives in sunny SoCal, has a family down there, and the Ducks love him.

Even if Getzlaf would waive,
you’re overpaying for an older guy on a bad contract

Also overpaying in the Vegas trade

And if you’re dumping Hutton & Okposo on Ottawa,
we will have to give them assets to take them

I wouldn't wanna leave either. But I also would want to experience something a little different before my biological clock hits midnight. If he comes in, puts on an A and leads a team from the basement to a cup we're puttung him in the conversation with Messier etc. For all-time leaders

My thought on Ottawa was a cap increase means a floor increase and maybe they see a little depth in Hutton and leadership in Okposo to not make us pay a fortune to give them up.

I thought Vegas was pretty fair. Fleury is still a top-10 goalie in my opinion.

Anaheim I thought was expensive but I also know it would take a lot to pry him out if he would even come. And one year of a "bad contract" isn't really that bad.

Why would Ottawa help us out like that for free?
They could just overpay some UFAs to get to the Cap floor if needed
If they’re gonna help us out, it’s gonna cost

Fleury as a top10 goalie???
Wow... that’s where we differ
His goals against the last 3 years has dropped
2.24, 2.51, 2.79
Same with his save %
.927, .913, .905
And he’ll be 36 early on next season
He’s a lot closer to a backup goalie than he is top10 sir
And Tuch is having a down season too

I don’t think the Ducks will move Getzlaf,
unless he wants to go to a “contender”
But they won’t get a package like that
Maybe a 2nd & good (not great) prospect
Someone like Asplund or Tage
Getzlaf just isn’t what he once was
Turns 35 before the season ends
High cap hit
Declining stats (hasn’t scored more than 15goals since ‘14-15)
He’s still decent, probably more like a 3C on a contender

Not to crap on your ideas

I wouldn’t take Fleury TBH...he’s fallen off and in all likelihood, given his age, he ain’t bouncin’ back to what you need....

@Jdfitz77 is right as well...even if they “have to get to the floor” there’s so many other options out there to get there where they can get a solid asset or two in exchange. The Okposo contract is hilariously bad, and Melnyk is known to be cheap. Nobody is going to take that for nothing, and Hutton is nothing.

If I was the Sabres, and had some cap space available, I’d go on the hunt for someone like Markstrom when he inevitably becomes available.

I’d say Getz would surprise you. Solid 2C through the end of his contract.

I’d also assume that if the Ducks were moving him (they’re not going to) they’d retain 50%.

Again though, he’s not going anywhere.

He doesn’t suck, and yeah, he’s probably still 2C quality overall
But on Cup Contenders, he’s probably the 3rd best Center on many of them

If u guys eat half of his salary,
and he’s still playing fairly well at the deadline next year,
it definitely makes sense for u guys to move him
In that case,
I bet you’d get a 1st for him
He might even have a bidding war going for him bc of his leadership/intangibles

Someone like Boston would make sense
Or the Oilers if they can take the next step
Whoever really
Having him at 3C would probably be a pretty big advantage in most situations

To be fair, he’s never been a goal scorer. Give him a winger that can play though, and he’s still a 60 point guy. The game he plays is why he’s still extremely effective

True...
but he’s still down about 40% from the 25+ rate he scored at up until ‘14-15

And on a Contender,
he’s probably in a 2way role without the best wingers
Unless he’s slotting into the top6 for an injured player

Ryan Gettzlaf already said that he has no desire to waive his NMC, His wife is from the Anaheim area therefore he's going nowhere he wants to finish his career were he started.
