I might be way off here, but I think it is still very very high. like give them poolparty and a 3rd. Like an I wrong or what.

Before the Penguins fans get to you via mass mob, yeah, your assessment might be a tad off.

Ignore the numbers and think of it as logically as we can: we're trading for a goaltender that we're going to pay and utilize as our #1A netminder for the next 8 years. Does a player playing at third-line production (with a fairly high ceiling) and a mid-round pick acquire a starting goaltender? Ignore Pittsburgh's financial and roster situation. We acquired Cam Talbot - as a gift from Slather - for a 2nd round pick, a 3rd round pick, and a swap of 7th Round PIcks. If we are willing to concede that Murray is better than Talbot, and that the Penguins aren't gifting us a starting goaltender, then despite Puljujarvi and a 3rd being a similar package to what acquired Talbot, it's not enough.

That said, I'm now realizing that I might still be overpaying for Murray here. The 1st Round Pick and Puljujarvi seems like it should be more than enough actually. I may have to reconsider Larsson's inclusion in the deal.

What did Lehner go for, cant remember, For me I think a 2nd and 3rd is fair. So third and Poolparty or we can trade poolparty for a 2nd I am sure, I am a gambling man and for me I would tottaly take a chance on Poolparty if I am other teams in the league. Like whats the gamble on a 2nd rounder, like 20%

Yinzernation is drowning its sorrows after getting its teeth kicked in by the Capitals.

Lehner - as a rental - went for a 2nd Round PIck, a prospect, and a goalie to fill in for the Hawks. Toronto ended up nabbing a 5th Rounder as well in order for Vegas to fit Lehner under their cap. If we use this trade as even a baseline for what Murray would cost, Puljujarvi and a 3rd misses the mark, especially knowing that Murray would be in Edmonton long-term. Puljujarvi and Edmonton's 1st round pick this season might be about market or close to fair, but I'd be willing to bet that Penguins fans and management will ask for more.

Throw in Crappy Lagesson, pittsburgh seems to have really good luck with our Defensman

I mean, that's why I went with Kesselring in the first place: Edmonton still maintains a glut of defensive prospects ahead of him on the right side despite graduating Bear and Bouchard. Lagesson is what he is at this point and likely won't amount to anything more than a #7 defender. Kesselring at least has some value due to being an unknown.

I don't think anyone genuinely saw Marino immediately becoming a top-4 mainstay with the Penguins when Holland made that trade. I recall the Penguins ended up calling him up out of necessity due to injuries and he just flourished. It happens. I fault Holland for not recognizing what Pittsburgh did and not managing a higher return knowing they were going to sign him immediately upon acquiring him, but I don't blame him for flipping a guy because he was buried on the right-side depth chart.

I guess we still have Day as well, I like him but forget about him alot, he can come up and play in a bind. He is RD and maybe throw in Benning so bouchard can play more, but I am not convinced that bouchard starts the season up here even though he probably should

I don't see a reality where he doesn't start in the AHL if he maintains his pace in Bakersfield. He still has defensive warts, but I think management is betting on the rest of this season and his training in the offseason to mitigate as much of that as possible. His skating has improved too.

To an extent, I guess it would depend on what Tippett and Holland decide to do with Larsson and Benning? Both are effectively bottom-pair defenders now and have performed well with Jones. We've seen that Nurse benefits from a puck-moving partner and that Bear is likely going to continue progressing. The Klefbom-Bear pairing has shown well the odd time it's been ran this season too.

Maybe they will start him on PP and easy minutes with Jones or Crappy Russel. I am keeping Larsson though. He has been awesoem and he looks like he is back.

What seriously do you think is fair, you need to clear cap space. you have 3 goalies. Ufa goalie market is very strong this year. Debate is trade for Murry or sign
Holtby
Crawford
Lehner
Markstrom
Greiss
Halak
Khudobin
Dell
Brossoit
Trade and sign Allen from blues

Well in that case if I am GM, I go free agent route, I know @BeterChiarelli likes him and wants to trade for him. But I am not giving up a first, this draft is strong.

Murray would be a good target for the Oilers.

They will go on a playoff run this year, probably beat the Flames frown lol, but the goaltending needs to be addressed.

Finally a fair trade for Murray. The reason Murray is going to cost this much is because he is an RFA and the pens could get much more from RFA compensation than even this trade.

I can live with this as well. Larsson was initially included because of the void Schultz will be making when he leaves this summer. Figured the Penguins had a need, tried to address it beyond just doing a trade for futures.

Nah, took the missus out for dinner and a movie. I'm cursed with Saturday-night games. We never win if I tune in on Saturdays, so I took one for the lads. 60% of the time, it works 100% of the time.

I'll keep banging the "don't sign Lehner" drum for as long as I can. Neither a short nor long term deal is optimal for Edmonton. Murray is the way. I'll remain defiant about that.

Not picking a fight here, but will Calgary remain in a playoff spot to finish the season? The Bettman point has done a lot of lifting for that franchise this season.

While the Penguins would net more in an offersheet, those don't happen. The Aho one this past summer hardly counts, as Montreal basically gave Carolina a free sweetheart deal in the end.

To be fair, Calgary has less OTL than Edmonton. You might be thinking of the shootout, where CGY has 6 wins thanks to that.

Either way it's been a weird season, and I am surprised they are still in the playoff race.
They never score first
They constantly let the 1st shot of the game in
They can't win at home
Yet here they are.

I think they make it and the owners will be happy, but they will be swept or ousted in 5
