PITT how can this work

Description
I want Sam Poulin. This kid does it all: size, skills, grit, leadership name it! I know he would be hard to get + I dont think it make much sense for both team since pittsburgh prospect pool is pretty thin and Poulin is probably the best one and Bergevin dont want to trade the future and will be trying to make the playoff next year so if a good roster player quits, it will be for another one. Still, I want this hometown boy so for PITT fans, what can make you say yes and for habs fans, what would you be willing to offer.

I feel like a roster player like Domi or Drouin should be more than enough habs depth is already thin, maybe not the best Idea...
We could exchange prospects but I dont think PITT really care about that, since 2020 1st Romanov and Caufield are untouchable IMO, we should probably give up 2 or 3 good prospects IDK. Anyway, this will never happen but curious to see pens and habs fans opinion.

  1. Drouin, Jonathan
Détails additionnels:
For a roster player, Drouin should be more then enough and could thrive alongside crosby or Malkin since the responsabilities to lead the offense would not be on his shoulder. For cap reason, this cant work so I added Johnson (with retention). It means you have 4 years of Drouin at 3,25 but it also means PITT has to add something good.

    Détails additionnels:
In case Bergevin dont want to downgrade his roster so we can try to be a playoff team next year, does this package of prospects can do it?

Poehling is struggling in his 1st professionnal year but still is a very good prospect (responsable 3rd line center)
Norlinder just won best junior player in Allsvenskan, an award Filip Forsberg and William Karlsson have won in the past. He could be a good top4 Dman with offensive upside.

If not, what would be PIT price/targets?

Don't want Drouin, or to retain on JJ, I'd love to get Mete, and the second offer I'd at least consider

You are a vert smart man. Poulin is very good and definitely one to pursue. Montreal knows he's good and will have to offer a good amount to get him now.

Fine by me, Drouin could fit very well with PIT IMO tho but what about Mete and Poehling?

Lmao all I got to say

Poulin will NEVER become good like Drouin, not even close. Maybe a trade including Poehling/Mete vs Poulin/something but only if Danault resign with MTL

What offer are u referring to? Of course hes notre worth Drouin + Johnson Contract thats why i said Pit should add. For the other one, he's worth more than Poehling and Norlinder is promising but his value isnt big either

Drouin has 1 20 goal season lmao. Once again MTL fans overvaluing their players. Very stupid to say a prospect who is crushing it so far will never become a player like Drouin

You know what? Let’s trade a 24 year old Top-6 forward for a 19 year old that could maybe be as good as our current player. Smart move.

Im a habs fan, I dis this post and I totally agree with you, he has the tools to be much more sucessfull than Drouin. Even if he does not score a ton of points, je should be great. Drouin is a frisky talented player with no heart.

If Norlinder’s value is so low, then YOU DON’T TRADE HIM. That’s how asset management works.

Man people dont read, I said PIT should add! Of course said like this 1v1 doesnt make any sense. The Idea is if pittsburgh wants a roster player, Drouin has some value and is expendable. Maybe the 2020 1st and Légaré could be added. Maybe Pettersson IDK

He isn’t a goal scorer at all. And just because you’re not a goal scorer, doesn’t mean you’re not good. Joe Thornton has 2 30+ goal seasons, and he’s a surefire hall of famer. Plus he’s young, and scored 53 points last year, while he’s been exponentially better this year when healthy.

No GM in their right mind would ever trade a current top-6 forward, especially one with Drouin’s upside, for a prospect that COULD become as good as him.

Ok, but then this is less of a trade for Poulin than it is trading Drouin for a package. Which doesn’t make sense no matter how you slice it.

JR likes Domi a lot and has called both Arizona and Montreal about him. He also likes Tatar but I think any trade for Poulin would probably involve Domi. I really wanted us to try to get Danault as our 3rd line center but I think it'd cost a lot and I'm happy with Bjugstad. Gallagher could be an interesting option as a replacement for Hornqvist since we're gonna have to move him as a cap dump eventually but I don't think JR would move Poulin for a rental. I think there's a chance but with our depth at the wing once Guentzel gets back next year I don't think Montreal has much to offer us

I think you are overvaluing Mete my friend. Great speed, great stick but horrible shot, poor offensive instinct for a player of his size/style, loose most 1v1 battles, cant hit and cant clean the front of the net. Poehling should be a decent NHL player tho

Lmao no thanks. It makes absolutely no sense for either team to make that trade. Pitt will want a kings ransom for him. 95% of Habs fans on this site overvalue Habs players to the point that I wouldn’t doubt most think Folin is better and worth more than Crosby, Malkin, McDavid, Matthews, Ovi, etc

Danault is too much valuable for us and Gallagher is the heart ans soul of this team. If KK and Suzuki continue to progress and Domi continue to insist playing center, he could go but it will cost much more than poulin.

Funny how every opportunity to spit on a habs fan is taken. I said everything you said in my description, doesnt make sense for both team, also said Poulin is very valuable and I offered a top6 winger + taken away a very bad Contract or to very good prospect. On both proposition i let room to tweak it and agreed with Pittsburgh fans on the comments that Drouin is overrated.

Thats why I think it doesn't happen but I don't think many people had us trading for Marleau before the deadline. If JR really wants a player he'll pay any price to get him and he really likes Domi but I don't see the need for us to get a winger

Hence why I said 95% and not 100%. Notice how you’re the only one in this being reasonable? Lol I mean one is saying no gm would ever trade Drouin who is a 2nd liner on most teams for a prospect like Poulin. No GM gives up much for a lazy, undisciplined player that has become content. Drouin has all the talent in the world but he has never really come full circle to become that elite level player. I mean phil Kessel is better and only got Galchenyuk who is essentially Drouin lite and a decent d prospect.
