Manson is not at all an elite player. He is a 2nd pair defensive defenceman

Clifford and Soup will get more but this is close. Cap will be closer to 85 probably but we could still make this trade work.

Manson or a player exactly like him is exactly the type of defenceman the Leafs are missing and would pair well with Rielly.

That is what everyone keeps saying but also any RHD that is "stay at home and has played on a top pair at some point" is exactly what the leafs need. Rielly needs a partner with wheels who can get back in a hurry. A good two way guy is perfect for Rielly because it opens up the right side. If Rielly has the space to take off that'll push the opposition away but if his partner can't skate or carry the puck, teams can just force the play to the other side and force that guy to move the puck up his way. A guy like Manson having to move the puck isn't what you want. He's not good at it. A two way guy is what Rielly needs.
