Jets 2020 1st (as long as it's not a top 3 pick), Heinola or Vesalainen, 2021 2nd, Perreault 50% retained for
Domi.
I want Domi to center Ehlers and Laine so I wouldn't trade Ehlers for him, if you swap Ehlers for Domi and slot Copp in the top 6 you're not further ahead, Copp isn't a top 6 player whether at center or on the wing.

Jets would never give up Heinola or a 1st. Ehlers can be replaced by a winger in this draft and tbh hes not a good player at all for the playoffs, he is too afraid to get hit.

Fully agree on this, ehlers for Domi makes no sense. Plus ehlers is worth more at this point due to term. Makes no sense to move him for a 2c cause then there’s a huge hole in our top 6. I think what you proposed for Domi is more than enough. Plus MTL is moving towards a quick rebuild so it makes more sense to give them futures

I think you get worse if you go ehlers for domi, but for a package and a extension I could get behind a domi acquisition

I like this for MTL, it secures a winger as opposed to Domi's position in Montreal jumping between centre and wing

Gotta remember this years draft, jets will get a decent pick. Plus Ehlers is a terrible player for the playoffs, I have watched him live in the playoffs and he is one of the biggest liabilities. Domi can play with some grit and that is what you need for a playoff team.

Explain. From what I have seen live he is too afraid to go into the corners or take a hit. He gets thrown around all game.

Took a late dirty hit from Bortuzzo against the Blues, he was probably playing through a concussion the rest of the series after that.
How many fights has he gotten in? I wouldn't worry about that with him, he's probably got more grit to him then a lot of other guys on that team.

The year they went to the WCF, I was at very game. I saw how Ehlers played, he is took weak on the puck and cant play physical. He constantly coughed up the puck and caused turnovers and every time he tried to do one of is "fancy moves" he would get leveled at the blue line. He doesn't play with any toughness and that is what you need for a championship team. Like i said, he gets thrown around all game during the playoffs and hes too afraid to go into the corners.

Have to agree to disagree then, he's been their best forward this season, really don't want to see him go.

I follow this team religiously but you need to trade talent to get talent. I know Domi plays with grit for his size and i want that in a forward. Plus this draft should be good like 2015 so if jets picked up a winger, they are set. Ehlers is a talented player but hes not a guy you want on a champion ship team.

So you're worried about size but don't want to part with Heinola, that makes no sense.

Sorry this team can't wait around for draft picks forever, they need to part with them to get the help they need without parting with established top 6 talent like Ehlers.

If you look at the dcore the jets cant trade away defensive prospects. Plus you have to give up talent to get talent, If the jets were so worried about a winger they could pickup get one at a lot lower cost. Wingers are the easiest position to acquire because there is always an abundance of them.

The Jets have a plethora of good defense prospects, if there's a position of strength to trade from its there.

They have Samberg and Heinola and that's it. Plus the jets might not even be able to sign Samberg if he plays another year in college.

The problem for Montreal is that the one thing WPG could offer that Montreal would want in a Domi trade is Heinola or Morrissey and WPG is just as thin at LHD as Montreal is so they can't move either, even if they wanted to.

Domi would look good in a Jets uni but I just can't see what Winnipeg can offer to make it work for Montreal.

2020 1st (as long as it's not top 3) and Heinola for an extended Domi is something the Jets should do and not think twice about

I’d have to agree with @MisstheWhalers

As much as I love heinola. He’s still probably a year or two away. He’s what MTL needs and the first is huge in a draft the Habs are hosting. Chevy just doesn’t have the balls to make a move like this. I hope he proves me wrong. We need to trade futures to get pieces to win now. We can’t move a top 6 F to get a 2c... makes no sense, we don’t step forward we step sideways doing that.

If Samberg signs in April, heinola + 2030 1st makes sense. If he doesn’t, I’d still do it. Jets can grab edmunson and DeMelo as FA and have a very good top 4 for 2-3 years. Maybe there’s a bigger move to be made here? Say Domi + Chiarot for Heinola + Niku + 2020 1st and 2021 2nd? Niku and 2nd for chiarot (not sure on value here) and Heinola and 1st for Domi extended. That big move gets the jets right where they need to be. Not sure what MTL would want for Chiarot, but maybe a 2nd and Niku gets it done. If not they could do vesalainen + 4th for Chiarot.

Boy was I wrong about Chiarot when the Habs signed him. He has been a godsend thus far. As much as the Habs need to accumulate picks and prospects, they're also trying to remain competitive. Take Chiarot out of this lineup and our left side defense crumbles. He's our legit #1 LHD right now logging 23 mins a night, solid PK'er and producing despite little PP time. . I don't think MB would even contemplate moving Chiarot out right now.

Habs would probably be more willing to part with Kulak or Mete but for the time being Chiarot, believe it or not is and for all intensive purposes, an untouchable on the Habs.

I heard/read somewhere that the Jets are the only team with five 50 point players, is that true??

If so it really makes my point that Lowry is a weak link on this team, imagine if before the bad stretch of hockey Maurice makes the 2015 line or just puts together the three best offensive players from the bottom 6 and makes them the 3rd line and drops Lowry to the 4th line the Jets are very likely in a better position right now.

I know there's been a lot of adversity with injuries and the Buff situation but really Maurice's choices with how he makes his lines rarely helps this teams chances of outscoring it's opponent.

Lack of secondary scoring has been the bigger issue this season, not the defense as so many have been blabbing on about.

It makes sense on team need but in the end the trade doesn't make anyone better as both guys can score and will cost roughly the same for the same term. It's a side move that can help if you're looking to trade Drouin for a defenseman or pick?

I don't know, Heinola's good like Romanov's good and both are a year away from the league so do we need one more? (On top of pretty good B-prospects like Norlinder and Struble) You'd pass on Ehlers? But that 1st rounder at home is also interesting .... Damn that's a hard choice.

I understand that Montreal's weakness' obviously LD but it'd be immediate LD help so I don't think another prospect would cut the deal. But a former 1st plus a 1st arrgghhh.
