That's why I put DeMelo on a 1 year contract plus the cap will go up and trades can be made.

Why? Byram is untouchable and you want to trade 7 yrs of him under cost control for Krug that’s straight cap insanity. Anaheim would have zero interest in Cole or Johnson and you’d have to get EJ to waive his NMC to go to Anaheim that isn’t happening. The Jost contract is an over pay. All these move do is make the Avs older and put them straight into Cap hell.

Trading Byram is to get Gibson not Krug.

Anaheim wants higher draft picks as they are rebuilding. This trade helps them do it.

Ducks decline. Gibson is among the best goalie in the league. And his contract is by far the best among those elite goalies. This package isn't enough for just Gibson. Byram is the only interesting thing. Grubauer maybe a little bit interesting bij Johnson and Cole aren't. But maybe if you add 2020 3rd, 2021 + 2022 1st they might consider it

Yeah but that’s the net effect. Also giving Krug that kinda contract makes it next to impossible to give both Landeskog and Makar long term deals.

Krug doesn't want to play in Canada, Hence all Canadian teams are on his no trade list.

colorado wont move byram good luck with that trade signing krug is... questionable, the defensive pair is fine on its own but if you trade ej and like a pick to get a 2nd or 3rd line that would work

That might be true, but that doesn't mean they're going to trade away an elite goaltender who is locked up long term to a team friendly contract for significantly less than he's worth, and then throw in Manson too.

This trade is heavily lopsided towards Colorado.

Maybe Colorodo throws in a first. Its not far off though. I think you underestimate Byram.

I'd rather Krug over Landeskog. You can always trade to make cap space too.

Byram has tons of potential, but has done absolutely nothing in the NHL yet. Gibson, on the other hand, is the only reason why the Ducks don't look like the Red Wings right now. He is a top 3 goaltender in the NHL, if not the best.

Add a 1st and an A prospect and drop Manson from the trade and the Ducks might consider it.

Why? The Avs are in the enviable position of having young talent on team friendly deals (for now) and more young talent coming. You give a guy like Krug that much money you would expect him to be the #1 d running the PP, the Avs already have Makar and they have Byram coming. It’s redundant and expensive. I like Krug but it isn’t a move the Avs would make.

He has a .904 save percentage not a .940 save percentage...

He also plays for perhaps the worst team in the league, ranked 30th in goal scoring and dead last in PP%, but is still able to keep them out of the league cellar and with decent defensive metrics.

I'm not even a Ducks fan, but I understand that Gibson is probably the best goaltender in the league right now.

I don't even think he's top 5 right now. He hasn't been having a good season. Probably his worst season since entering the NHL. Shesterkin has been a beast this season.

We'll have to agree to disagree. If I could pick one goaltender (age and contract considered) to start a franchise, I would choose Gibson over any other goaltender in the league.
