The issue Colorado is gonna have is they can only protect two of Makar, Girard, Graves if they still have Johnson on the roster. Thought taking him would be doing them a favor, and he'd probably waive to go home.

Or they can just ask Johnson to waive his NMC knowing Seattle won’t take him. You are right about the expansion draft, but I think ALL teams would be smart to Not worry about the expansion draft until after next season to many moving parts, injuries, etc...

They’re not going to give Landeskog away for free. In that case they protect him and those other 3 and lose Burakovsky, Compher, or Donskoi, who could also all be protected if they move Johnson first or get him to waive. They definitely have one of the trickiest scenarios for expansion out of all teams, should be interesting.

Landeskog is a UFA at the end of the 2021 season, so Colorado can simply wait until after the expansion draft and re-sign him. Alternatively, if Joe Sakic decides to nail the Captain down prior to the expansion draft, I think he can live with losing one of the three players you've listed, or anyone else on the roster neither of us has mentioned. He's done a great job of constructing his team with virtually interchangeable depth players, but the second-best defense in the Western Conference (and sixth overall) isn't something he's going to mess with lightly.

It's a nice lineup. Not sure Guerin is sold on Kahkonen as a starter, I really hope Wild give him a extended look at the end of the season here. If Colorado doesn't want to give up Johnson I wonder what they would want for Jost. I don't believe Wild would need Johnson. I'm not sold on Bellows being better than Donato. I have really come full circle on Donato, no doubt he has work to do but he is the closest thing Wild have to a sniper.
