Now in terms of what I THINK JR is most likely going to do:

-Sheary most likely isn't going to be resigned considering Guentzel is coming back next year and we have Poulin and Legare ready to make the jump in 1-2 years it just doesn't make sense to give him term especially since JR already got rid of him as a cap dump less than 2 years ago and he hasn't improved at all since then.

-Don't think PO Joseph is going to be ready to jump into the top 6 next year and I think Johnson gets at least another year before we have to extend Marino.

-As far as a cap dump goes I think it's much more likely to be Hornqvist than Bjugstad since Hornqvist is already showing signs of decline and can't continue playing the way he does into his 30s. A young guy like Lafferty could be coached in time to do what he does. Hopefully we get him another cup on his way out the door.

-I highly doubt we keep Murray and Jarry. Colorado is apparently very interested in Jarry. The reason why we sent Desmith down on waivers instead of Jarry was because JR was convinced Colorado was going to pick him up, which ended up being a very smart move. I think we're gonna move Jarry at the draft for a 1st rounder and extend Murray but I could see JR moving whichever goalie wants the most money.

Other than that this is probably very similar to what our roster will look like next year

Pretty much everything @Jesus said. I definitely don't think we sign Sheary, and the proposed goalie salaries are very low. Bjugstad is all dependent on how he plays rest of this year. I would also not mind moving Hornqvist, but he would be tougher to move than Bjugstad.

Agree with everything except the fact that hornqvist will be dumped as a salary dump. he has a NTC and has been performing pretty well compared to last season. I think you can write off last season as just a wack season for a lot of our players from Horny to Malkin to Murray etc. Imo Bjugstad will likely be traded if he shows nothing after he returns from injury.

C'mon man he's 33 years old, he's 5' 11", he's less than 190 lbs and his game is to go to the net and be physical. We'd be lucky to get another 2 years out of him. Look at what's happened to physical guys like Andrew Ladd and Wayne Simmonds as they get into their 30s and those guys are much bigger than Hornqvist. He's already missing a lot of time due to injuries now and its only going to get worse as he ages. I love Hornqvist and don't think we would've won those 2 cups without him but his body is going to give up on him sooner rather than later. The fact he's doing good this year is all the more reason to sell high on him as some veteran leadership and a guy who has stanley cup experience. He'll be difficult to replace with his energy and locker room presence but you don't want him to become the teams first buyout either

Dont get me wrong, if we can trade him for a pretty good return im all for it. I love the guy and hes one of my fav players but you are right, guys like him do fall off into their 30s. I was talking more about if he would be traded by GMJR or not. Also, if JJ is not getting bought out, I find it very hard to believe this team will ever buy out anyone lol

Good points guys. I think with both Rodrigues & Lafferty on the rise, plus Guentzel being healthy, there is no room for Sheary on the team. However, I have a gut feeling that they might bring him back because Sully & Sid like working with him, even though he stinks. It’s seems like their decisions dictate what GMJR does. Both Bjugstad & Horny are options to be dumped, but Horny means more to the team & has been the bigger contributor as well. However, his contract won’t be looking good if he goes on a rapid decline. If the Penguins win the cup with Murray, then I see him demanding 8-9 million a year which they can’t afford, so they may need to trade him for a big return.

If sheary takes a discount I could see it. Looks pretty good. One of your more realistic teams. I like it

Thanks. I decided that 2 million is fair for Sheary. He’s no where near Guentzel or even McCann and Rust. But he‘s still a below average player who Sid likes playing with.

I think this is the most likely off-season.
I think it's unlikely that GMJR allows Johnson to be scratched (I think he'd try to move him event though close to impossible)
That Sheary deal isn't impossible if he says I hated buffalo and I never want to leave Pens again but that might not be the case?

POJ at 3 LHD might be a year too early (or not 50/50). That top 6 is good but I think POJ should be #7 and if pens can move Johnson I'd add a UFA LHD
