Buffalo passes. Not a bad trade, but with Kahun we have Olofsson, Skinner, and Kahun (and possibly Ruotsolainen) down the left side, so no reason to get roped into a chunky contract. Just doesn't fit what we need to put up the big bucks for.

Buffalo passes on Killorn . Not going to fix your cap woes for you. And I am sure Buffalo will be on his no trade list anyways

Killorn is the only one that has a Mod-NTC this summer, Can see him moving. The rest don't bank on it.

They all have NTC. You’re going to have to trade 1 of Sergachev or Cirelli. Sorry about that

NTC only works until you go to AHL/benched/scratched/waivers/contract termination it's not a clause written in stone by Jesus Christ --> like just talk to a GM in person after season is over in a room. Can be waived in 10 min. Player+ human happiness > NTC
Some players like "lazy" Kessel say: NAAH to Minnesota.... Then they say YAYYY to Arizona... If you can choose from 25+ teams, it's simple... If he wants to go only to 2-5 teams... harder but can be still solved

Do you want to go to XYZ(<-- insert random teamname here, which is not Detroit/Ottawa or other 70 point teams, who are rebuilding)
After a huge failure in playoffs... changes needed... after deep playoffs run... also changed needed... after cup win... also changes needed... all scenario = Cirelli/Serg stays, sorry for other teams...

I can show you this picture:
ERuS9TGUcAAe7Hu?format=png&name=large

Based on this: Bye Yanni
Down year, so i wouldn't expect too much of a return... It's alright though...
Killorn 90%+ gone, cap hell is cap hell... good return for him though... like JT miller... maybe little worse... but still solid return... career year
Backes just got moved for a fair price... and that contract looked unmovable... have u seen his no trade list? i wouldn't list anaheim in my top8 teams... but maybe he did... really doesn't matter... who needs to go... goes...

Serg is not that expensive btw... 3rd pair D... bridge.. low years.... low AAV(3-4)... Mcavoy in Boston was 5mill/year ... he plays 25 min/game Top pair D. Serg doesn't do those things...

Paquette and Killorn will both be moved, there are also ways to get rid of a big chunk of Coburn's hit as well if he won't waive. Paquette has no ntc either. Sorry, but we won't be trading either Cirelli or Serg nor losing them to an offer sheet.

I mean if some team wants to get Cirelli for 8-9 million $, it's their choice. If Cirelli accepts it, it's his choice.
Based on our culture. Cirelli doesn't really like to play in Montreal/xyz insert other mediocre teams, i feel smile
He is my favorite player for a reason, like Point was last year. What Point said to offersheets? No thanks, delete my number from your phone Mr "Bergevin".... hahaaa... laugh

Only bad Gm's make those offersheets with bad teams anyways.
I'm 90% sure Cirelli rather stays here for 5-6 mill(bridge or 5 years etc..) then go to 8mill to Buffalo... But anything can happen...
If he accepts the offersheet, we will make the correct decision. If the draft picks come from ottawa, we might even accept the 1/1 18.5% next year. You never know... All i'm saying, our cap problems are solvable, yes Paquette,Coburn, i already sold them in my test ACGM... The math works... trades can happen... I also waived some NTC.... easier here ofc... i would be actually shocked if they both stay... then BriseBois is a god... they are good players.. we just can't afford little overpayments in these years... too many big fish we have Vasi,Heddy,Stammer,Kuch etc...

I think Gourde goes 80%+... if he stays.... BriseBois will solve it... He has months to do it... And 10-20+ people helping him... Contracts can be buried as well btw... cap managing is his job and he is good at it... He just got 2 solid palyer for 3 mill $ combined. Price was crazy... but he got what he wanted.... I wonder what he wants to do with other problems? Oh yeah he wants to-----------------Solve it!

EASY!

I don't think Cirelli or Serg hits 5 million imo. I think both will be bridged in the ~4 range but could see 4.5 or maybe 4.75. Cernak will be less, 2.5 tops but wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to 2. With Killorn, Paquette and likely Coburn moved, that frees up 7.75 million. That plus a cap increase of 2.5 million gives Tampa enough to get them signed. I don't think Gourde, Palat or TJ waive, and JBB has to weigh the likely better return for Killorn vs the lesser return for TJ or Gourde and the extra 500-700k in cap relief that would bring. It's unfortunate that Killorn is likely gone, but Tampa will get a great return after his performance this season. Paquette and Coburn are much less hurtful losses.

They don't have a choice. AHL/waivers/buried/termination... or waive NTC. They will choose waive NTC. Their best interest. When u have multiple players with NTC, it's easy to convince 1. If you have only 1 in the whole team, and you need to convince that 1 dude. That's much harder. But we have lots... So someone has to go...

I think it's Gourde.
Killorn/Johnson/Gourde --> 2/3 gone --> if not, impossible to have a good roster for next year... unless we can find a new "Shattenkirk". 1.5 million $ caphit = solid player.
The way i see now:
We traded for Coleman to replace Killorn.
And we traded for Goodrow to replace Gourde.

So our team's overall strength will be kinda the same next year.
If Shattenkirk leaves = we will be weaker though, whatever happens... I hope Shattenkirk chooses 2 million $ Tampa's offer vs 3 million $ Florida Panthers( or insert here any other mediocre/bad team offer... If a good team like Philly/Wash/Pittsb offers him 3.5 mill+, i think he also leaves frown

I have a feeling some GM will offer him 3+ million $ @ 3 years... then he leaves cry Stralman got offered an insane out of the world 5 million $ + contract jeez ...

We traded Goodrow to replace Paquette and Coleman for Killorn. I see the def pairings next year as Hedman-Rutta, McD-Cernak and Serg-Foote, could move these around a bit but Rutta has earned another year and Foote has to be ready next year, if not then they should've traded him at the tdl. Tampa can keep Gourde/Killorn, TJ and Palat and make it work as long as one of Killorn/Gourde, Paquette and Coburn are moved.

Agree on BUF passing. It's actually a smart offer value wise by the OP. Echoing other statements but even though we could use Killorn and aren't giving up anything significant for him, I'm not interested in helping Tampa fix their cap woes and the length of the contract is not ideal.

Would really like Tyler Johnson in 2021 if we haven't fixed our **** at Center yet (narrator: they won't)

Would you do that same trade if it was Johnson instead of Killorn?

I would this offseason, yeah. Wish it was an option.

Next offseason, when the modified NTC portion actually kicks in... it would depend a lot on how Cozens looks, he's the long-term plan at 2C and so far he's been as good as advertised.

BUF is going to have to roster him either full-time, or send him back to juniors (which is really not ideal here... he's 100% proven this year that he's ready to move up from junior hockey. Ideally he would be seeing top-6 minutes in the AHL next season. Age rule is potentially brutal for his development)

If he plays great, earns a full-time spot and looks the part immediately next year, then I'm not as interested in Johnson come 2021 summer.
If he busts because we were forced to bring him up too early before he was ready for NHL minutes (like Mittelstadt), then I'm still interested in Johnson.
