My Anaheim colleagues would consider it heretical to trade Hampus Lindholm.

Lindholm isn't untouchable (at least he shouldn't be in my opinion) but this trading him just for the sake of trading him. There is zero pressure to move him and if that's going to happen we better get a killer return and this just isn't it. RHD are not that important, not if they aren't a significant upgrade over the player we're moving to get one. I'd be happy to acquire Weeger but not for Lindholm, especially considering how much of a deal he becomes as d-man contracts rise. If we had a young d-man poised to take his spot, I'd gladly trade Lindholm for offensive help but we don't. D-men like Lindholm don't grow on trees.

I'm a huge fan of Lindholm, and I think there's something here. I think a more even trade would be Weegar, FLA 1st & Tippett for Lindholm. Lindholm is an elite defender and should get a king's ransom.

You've overlooked the value of moving from 27th overall to 13th.

I was thinking along those lines but getting both a first and a first-value plus Weegar is too much. I think the actual range is somewhere between Weegar, the move up in the draft and Owen Tippett for Lindholm (high) to Weegar, the move up in the draft and Serron Noel for Lindholm and Antoine Morand (low), but I was trying not to set the Panthers fans off.

No I haven't. After the top of the draft there usually isn't a huge drop off in that range of players. Never mind the fact that is doesn't make up for the difference between Lindholm and Weeger. Unless we get totally screw in the draft lottery and/or go on an annoying run here at the end. we're going to end up with a top-5 pick. We've going to get a very talented teenager, not to mention our second will be really strong as well. But moving up 14 spots in the middle of the first round is not worth making this trade.

Yeah, we're not trading Lindholm. This Weegar kid is getting massively overhyped. Huge downgrade on Lindholm. The difference definitely isn't moving up a few spots in the draft, especially just to go from 25-30 to 12-15.
