Description
A full rebuild really does seem like the only way this team can finally move forward. Stan, just let us lose with a purpose finally, or get the **** out of the way.

Kane mentioned in an article the other day that he isn’t sure if he’d be willing to wait out a full rebuild, so in this scenario I’m just gonna trade him.

Agree that a full rebuild is the fastest way for the Hawks to return to greatness instead of just being mediocre in the future. It is time to move out players and start accumulating draft picks and going with the younger players to rebuild the Hawks.

What do you think is fair compensation for Kane? I thought Krebs is great prospect and the 1rst round draft is good starting point but maybe Hawks would need another roster player from Knights.

Boy, and here I was thinking Vegas would turn that trade down. A 1st, their top prospect, and a top six analytical darling who can get 60 points a year. Steep price.

Problem is I have no clue where a buffalo trade would end up. Player wise, I have no idea who to include.

I don't think you could get CHI to trade him. Just to be honest. The cost would never outweigh the return due to age.

I honestly based this trade off an interview he gave yesterday. In it, he supposedly said that he isn’t sure if he’d be willing to wait out a full rebuild for this team. So basically, I just said if we’re going full rebuild, thanks for your service kaner.

yeah I get that. But it's the team you have to convince. He's still a 90-100 point player, a proven goal scorer capable of putting up 30-40 goals, he's not some 20 goal assist guy like marner.
He's got 3 years term left given he's in his 30s but there is no reason to believe he can't play at a high level at 32, 33.
The cost of that isn't going to be some lottery protected picks. Late rounder at that and a mid round 1st prospect and a guy like Smith.
I think if they moved him, they would want multiple 1st round picks and prospects back. It makes no sense to take a 28 year old guy in Smith.
Which is why I don't see this happening because you are looking at a very large return on a guy like this. This would be a huge trade bigger than say Karlsson's who they had no control over.

That's why I say I don't see this trade happening. The ask would be astronomical. It would only be worth it to a cup contender and he's only be willing to go to one based on the comments. Most of which don't have the assets to make it happen.

That’s a very fair assumption and evaluation of Kane. I like what you had to say. To be honest I, if we could get a 1st, 2nd, and a decent prospect or two, I’d take it if it meant the long term health of the team. I might make another AGM tonight to reflect that.
