All I have to say is Lehner was a bigger need than Skjei. Really don’t know what they were thinking

Edmundson left multiple people alone in the slot, can't blame goaltending for a bad defenseman

It really doesn’t make sense to me why they aren’t giving the spot to Fleury/Bean. I know Fleury is playing right now but he’ll be healthy scratched when Vatanen returns. Like let’s not trust our former first round picks to play 6th dman and acquire more dmen. But let’s trust our AHL goalies to play in the NHL while we push for the playoffs. It blows my mind the moves Carolina made at the deadline but weren’t willing to address goaltending.

The reason the team didn't go get a goalie is because mrazek is out for a week or so under concussion protocol, as well as a neck injury, no need to go get a goalie when your 1A being healthy soon. Reimer is out for unknown length because of the groin injury. I get its easy to point at the team and say that the team sucks because the goaltending is "inconsistent" but there is a larger problem, and that comes down to Joel Edmunson being a liability. The Blue Jackets are finally regressing to where they should be, so this team should be okay once the Rangers fall of their hot streak as well. This team will never operate on a starter backup system, A because we dont have those kind of guys, and B there is no reason to when a tandem is by far more effective, this is because it allows you to run a hotter hand better as well as being able to make sure that both of your guys are rested coming April. This year honestly is one of the weirdest regular seasons that could happen, this team is young enough and good enough to be competitive for a very long time, how you improve that standing is by things like adding Trocheck, Skjei, and Vatanen, to show the guys in the room management has faith in this team. This team when healthy again will have the best dcore in the NHL to the point where you could honestly play all three pairs for 20 minutes a night and be fine, with 3 NHL dmen on the sideline.

All it would have cost to actually get a goalie was ONE of the TWO 2nd rounders. Mrazek stinks. Reimer...you're right. Who knows. I 100% get trade for Sami and Trocheck. Those were good trades. Skjei...I think was bad for the long run, but I get it for this year. There's zero excuse to play AHL goalies and Mrazek...who's AT BEST a back up. 16 shots last night. 4 goals. Let's make the playoffs first because the other teams around CAR addressed their issues. CAR failed at addressing their true concern when all they needed was to part with a 2nd rounder.

Remember, not long ago, when canes had best d depth in NHL and caniacs were gloating about their Calder cup goalie, who apparently is not in the picture here...

Shot totals do not dictate skill of goalie, look at the shots that went in, there was a consistent theme for some, and then one was a bounce off the glass. You make your own luck. Mrazek isnt a top 15 goalie in the league, but he is still a competent NHL goalie. I would love to see the Canes get a true number one. But for the price and what you are asking for, I would have preferred the Canes get depth goalies like Craig Andersen or Jonathan Bernier. Mrazek needs to get going when he gets back, so does everyone on this team. Ned really was left out to dry against a Dallas team that dominates the center of the ice, and will beat you in transition if you aren't careful, dont write off how good of the game Dallas played because it didnt match what youd expect. Ned and Forsberg will be starting this weekend Mrazek will probably be back and practicing next week and I have zero clue what the length of Reimer is. Canes addressed the larger issue, rebuilding a NHL Dcore after losing your two best Righties, the team has enough faith in their goaltending to run with it. Put most goalies in they have a similar result to last night.

I'm venting right now, but in all honestly their defense is really good. 16 shots allowed...that's dang good and CAR has been able to do that a number of times this year.

If you face zero shots...how many goals do you let up? I truly don't think CAR fans can see the forest through the trees. Yes, the goals came from high danger areas. Guess how many other teams allow shots from high danger zones? ALL OF THEM IN THE HISTORY OF HOCKEY. Sometimes, maybe just maybe, expect a goalie to make a save. That's a requirement to win the cup. Expecting good play from your goalie. I don't have any issue with Sami or Trocheck. I already said that. I also understand Skjei for this year....alone....

a 2nd rounder would have got Lehner, because a worse 2nd rounder did get Lehner.
