I understand that you have to overpay to succeed in an offer sheet, but this is a bit over the top, no? It would cripple us for ever subsequent season. Also if you factor in the $625K you want to retain on Alzner (but forgot to do within the Capfriendly system, cool feature), you're over the cap here.

Also why the Ducks trade? lol

That looks a little rich for me, but go for it, MTL. You've got the cap space and picks to get done.

Add another year and Columbus sounds match. As it stands they have enough cap space to match that and keep their goalies. Unfortunately Anderson would become a lost soldier.

HAHA I'm certain the cap will go up slightly over 81,500,000 next year. As for Ducks deal, I suppose to make up for the picks lost as compensation to CLB in 2021. As for Dubois' offer sheet, CBJ will struggle to match especially if its front loaded for salary. CLB has too much rolled up in contracts next year and there priority is resigning a goaltender.

Dubois is tremendous, I'd be willing to overpay to make the playoffs next year. MB isn't shy on these offer sheets.

Lets agree to disagree. CLB can't afford that contract especially front loaded with salary (similar to Aho attempt last off-season)

I don't know man, CLB has so much money rolled up in contracts next year. Dubois' a target for MB.

We have over 17 mil in cap space.... and Dubinsky can go on LTIR which gives us 22 mil in cap space and that’s before the cap increase....

That's a huge overpay for Dubois. 9.5Mx 5 years. Can't say anything about Marner and Matthews anymore.

That’s how an offersheet works though. You’ll have to overpay to get a team to say they won’t match it. If it’s a fair deal teams match quickly

Gostisbehere could use a change of scenery. A one year / 5 mil prove it deal for Domi in Philly may be what they need

No way I'd give up on Danault or Suzuki (top 6 dudes for the near future). You could get a decent return for KK next summer.

Agreed, but KK is the largest wildcard in this equation, he's still remarkably young for his draft class

Yikes, that's an overpay. No way you're getting Caufield, he's gonna be a Laval superstar sooner than latter. The compensation picks are fair when it comes to Dubois. Especially if you think that MTL is going to crap the bed over the next 2 years.

That’s the thing, I don’t think MTL is going to be bad. With Werenski and PLD they make the playoffs. I’d argue they are better then Toronto with those two players. MTL has a good team, idk why they’ve struggled so much this year. I’d rather make the trade to get Domi and Mete with the 1sts to replace them let them offersheet. If Caufield is 100% unavailable it would have to be a 2nd and Poehling coming back then.

see the point, but they dont have much of a choice.... CBJ fans would riot,, giving up such a good young player for 2 (around 15-25) firsts and 1 2nd and 3rd.. shows franchise isnt willing to commit, going to be hard for them to keep their fans then

The cap concerns aren't a joke. How do you plan to resign Petry, Danault, Gallagher, Tatar, Armia, Lehkonen, KK, Poehling, Fleury? Assuming the last four don't get much of a raise (underperform in 2020-21), and Tatar is let go, you still don't have any cap left for Petry, Danault, Gallagher. And that's the best case scenario. IDK this doesn't make sense to me, not for PLD, as much as I think he's a great fringe 1C to have.

Hmm. Should it all fall apart next year, there's a long list of UFAs to consider. For me it's Danualt (7yr 42mil) & Gallagher (7yr 49mil) as the only UFAs to consider long term. I'd depart with all other UFAs (Petry, Tatar, Weal). Perhaps fetch a good price at Trade deadline 2021. As for Armia, it would be a fair offer to keep him (4 yr 16 mill) but he could fetch more in free agency so its a no sadly. For me, all RFA's are resigned (except maybe Lehkonen in a trade for an early round pick).

Eventually, but not immediately. Suzuki would be a fine RW in a line feeding the puck to Dubois. In the more immediate future, Dubois would allow KK and/or Poehling to take their time in the AHL.
