Have to agree, Canes adding Trocheck Vatanen, and Skjei is very good. A top four of Salvin, Hamilton, Gardiner, and Skjei is fantastic and the bottom pairing of Edmundson/ Fleury/TVR is better than a lot of bottom pairings. Top 6 of Aho, Svech, TT, Staal, Foegele, Trocheck is also great with your bottom 6 being Dzingle, Nino, Necas, Martinook, McGinn, and Williams. This is a very deep team, only question mark is goaltending. If Mrazek can play even avergae to just above average the canes can make a lot of noise

I do agree they won the deadline, but honestly I thought they should've targeted a G. If the price for Lehnor was a 2nd a Subban, then I imagine the canes could've made a similar package work. Ill be honest, I don't follow the canes a whole lot, but with the recent injuries to Mzazek and Reimer, Im sure fans would've been more comfortable with adding a legit goalie

No they didn't. They gave up a first for Skjei who isn't good and got Vatanen who is not good at 5v5 himself. They didn't get a goaltender and their defense is now significantly weaker. Ottawa won the deadline.

If the world ends in July...they might have won. Otherwise it's very questionable. Good FLA trade. Good NJ trade. Bad NYR trade, but I understand it for this year. Didn't trade for their single biggest hole...goalie. Bowman was public that Vegas was his best offer. EITHER of CAR's 2nd rounder are going to be better that PITs 2nd rounder. How does CAR miss on that? Pretty crazy. Even if only ONE of their 2 starters are out for the year...Very easy give for a true #1 which they don't even have to begin with.

putting hamilton on LTIR clears enough cap to get both, helps the NJ retained 50 percent. Plus, cap doesnt matter in the playoffs so if he's ready he can return then

rumour was that we offered Jake Bean and a first for lehner, if bowman didn't want a NHL defensman stuck in a logjam and a first, then hes drunk. Nedeljkovic has been great in the AHL and Forsberg has legit NHL experience. With Mrazek being back in about a week, just need them to stand tall for a little bit.

we had a deal in place that would've sent Bean and a first for Lehner, Bowman didn't take it

New Jersey won the deadline. Most of the teams that gave up long term assets to get a boost will fall short and end up regretting it. Meanwhile the Devils added 2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd that can become a 2nd or 1st, 5th, 5 prospects. They reshaped the franchise and look to have a bright future. Nice haul.

Canes would have won the deadline by taking the 1st in the Skjei trade and using it on Lehner instead. As is, that's gonna haunt them.

As of this minute...NHL.com standings (games in hand aside) the Canes are NOT in the Sweet16.
So let's say they've WON nadda until early April shall we?
