Columbus can't afford it. Obviously. CLB would be thrilled with the compensation picks.

The fine print above explains that offer sheets amounts are over 5 years.

Columbus happily matches and another Metro team thanks MB for his help in getting their contracts done. Minnesota has zero interest in that trade, nowhere near enough value. The offer probably starts with Suzuki. Not sure Jersey is doing that either, they might want more to help you out.

The Devils are a candidate to take on Alzner's contract. The habs could retain 625-825k/yr considering the cap space available next year.

Why would any team pay a 60 point player 10.5m, and give up all those assets to obtain him. Just because he has French heritage? Habs save their money and their picks.
Columbus doesn't match, they can easily spend 10.5m more wisely and have all those picks too.

will agree to disagree. If CLB were to somehow magically match this offer sheet, MB should consider the same offer to Sam Reinhart. Buffalo would most likely match.

If MB were to offer Dubois a 5 yr - 9.5 mil/yr contract and front load the salary, how on earth can CBJ match considering that they have way too much money tied up next year? As well, CBJ priority is resigning a goalie.

Lol, I would never give Domi for Brodin 1v1. I Don't get all the excitement about this guy, he's never put over 35pts in a season and isn't a beast defensively such as Lindholm. He's a 4th dmen on most team but a top pair dmen on MTL roster... That doesn't mean he's worth a top line player and even less Suzuki. That's absurd

I think Jackets priority should be locking up their flagship star center. They would be making a huge mistake otherwise.

Side note. How sad that MTL has to resort to offer sheets to improve their team. Is MB such a lousy GM that he can’t properly negotiate a freakin trade.

That is your opinion. I disagree. Brodin might be the best defenceman in the NHL at suppressing offence. Points are not the best measure of any player, let alone defenceman. Also not sure Domi qualifies as a top line player. Just because he plays on your top line...

All fair points. The Wild would gladly make this trade for Domi considering M. Koivu is probably done after this year and they can get a 24yr old 3rd line centremen a chance in the top 6. Brodin as an UFA could be quite expensive after next year.

It's not 10.5, it's 8.5 Reasonable for the term and what Dubois brings to the table for the Jackets.

Sure looks like Gostisbehere could use a new home. Domi straight up is a reasonable offer .... maybe Philly could retain a little salary.

Philly would probably offer Gostisbehere and a 2nd or a 3rd and/or a solid (mid level) forward prospect (Laberge, Strome).

Going into 20-21, Philly would have provorov/niskanen, sanheim/myers, hagg and ___________ with a 6th/7th spot for one of Morin or prospects Zamula or Cam York or Wylie, etc.... Philly would need a 3rd pairing guy, but at this point Ghost looks excess. (Provo, Niskanen are on pace for 40-50pts and Sanheim and Myers are on pace for 30+ pts) Even Braun and Hagg would have 20+ in full seasons.

IMO, Domi is worth more than Ghost, but not a ton more, considering salary and term ramifications. Ghost is only 2 years removed from a 65 pt season, just surpassed by younger guys for minutes and mismanaged a bit. His injury has really hurt the past year or so. Negotiations and patience with Domi could be tricky, (ask Arizona). And I would expect he'd want north of 5mil, whereas Ghost at 4.5mil for the next 3 is a pretty good deal, hed partner with Weber perfectly.

Sorry it's 8.75. And if instead of shouting, you read the fine print above the offer sheet (or knew anything about offer sheets) you would know the AAV is calculated over 5 years. The contract was over 6. So if the total amount is 52.5 million, over 5 years that equals 10.5 million a season. Over 6, that means 8.75. It stops teams from reducing the draft pick amount they would need to pay by adding extra years in the deal. Now, take a breath. Get it?
