Last year penguin fans said he was the next Kessel. As far as your comment yeah capitals gave up a proven NHLer for a project player.... not a fan

To me, it's a move to bolster an organizational weakness (scoring depth on the wing in the minors) from a position of strength (LHD). We have a lot of depth there, with Alexeyev and Fehervary potentially making their way into the NHL in the very near future, and Fehervary by all accounts passed Djoos on the depth chart. Plus, why keep Djoos around with his contract (and potentially having another painful negotiation process).

This would be a hard year to win with so many teams going all in

he did nothing with his talent. He has a really poor attitude.
Third team in 2 years. He's an AHLer at this point

There isn’t any room for him to move up either in the capitals system. Caps have Protas Mcmichaels lesson and Sutter all fighting for spots on top of that Boyd

Protas and McMichael will be centers, and Leason and Sutter aren't NHL ready. Sprong at least gives us some insurance in the playoffs in case of injury so we aren't relying on Sgarbossa or Malenstyn in prime games.

Kuzy played wing his rookie year. It’s not a hard transition once you get the speed down

Yeah, I mean there will be less of a barrier to entry on the wing for one of those guys. I'm just wondering how NHL ready either of those two guys are. Best case scenario is obviously that McMichael is NHL ready next year, and can add some offense to the third line, maybe even the second. For this season though, Sprong is the better option if we need someone from the AHL to be called up for a more offensive role.

I would hate to send Mcmichael back to juniors though. It’ll be a waste of a development year for him. Him and Protas actually.
