So Vancouver gets a BIG downgrade in picks, a dman whose playing like **** and isnt likely to come cheap, for a budding powerforward on his way to 20+ goals (that TO cant afford to sign) and a good prospect. Why didnt you have the Nucks throw in Demko and Boeser too?

Nah for Pettersson the leafs would have 2 throw in a protected 7th round pick

I like JimBo as well! Guy knows how to draft and surround his young players with the right type of people and players. Some of his signings have been a bit high but we had the room and he wanted those individuals for more than there on ice performance. No he isnt perfect but hes made more good decisions than bad in my books. This team looks setup to compete for many years!

This trade looks too steep and rumours are Dubas wants Juolevi. I dont think Jim moves that player for a number of reasons and I actually hope we stick with Stech as a internal rental vs trading assets for Barrie.

As Juice said last night there is something to be said for cohesion and chemistry. Eddy and Stech have it, Barrie may not. Look at his fit with the Leafs... Stecher is better at defending as well in his opinion.

I'm not saying that the leafs don't get the better end of the deal here but for a team that's missed the playoffs 4 straight years and 5 outta 6 I think they have a little more urgency to not only make the playoffs but make a deep run. Also, Benning pinned over Barrie in the offseason and this would give him a better shot at retaining him then trying to make a run at him in the offseason. Also, in mine I had conditional picks going both ways to help balance out the trade.

I wonder if we could get a 1st for Juolevi - I'm not sure if we want any of Toronto's players since they're I think we wouldn't be able to afford any of the good ones, but we could restock a bit - I'm not too confident in Juolevi and wouldn't mind a mulligan on our 1st rounder. Not sure if Toronto is going to be able to make it deep in future years with so little money available for their defense, we might get a lottery pick out of it too if Dubas doesn't protect.

I understand your side of the coin on a do over, but Im not sure a team would offer that at this point especially if Jim looked to shop him. A team would have to target Juolevi to get a 1st back.

I also think he will prove his doubters wrong. Hes taken big strides lately in his development being healthy. I think he is going to be a solid bottom 4 all around puck possesion type dman. Good playmaker and puck mover with fearless shot blocking like Tanev.

Oh for sure, it just sounded like you were saying Dubas might be targeting him - I wouldn't be actively trying to sell either. I'm hoping you're right with his development, I've read that his decision making and defensive play still seem suspect at times, though apparently he makes a great first pass.
