Vancouver needs Defensive Defensemen, not Offensive. I know people have talked about it, It's not going to happen

I agree. We have Hughes and Edler for offensive. Barrie is not needed. Barrie is a UFA...someone will overpay for him in the off season...hope it is not the Canucks.

Edler is on his last legs and is likely done next season or season after so bring in Barrie at this price would be a great replacement. But I have issues with Sutter being added to the trade; while often injured and not providing huge numbers he is very good as an third line center in a shut down role. This is required for the play-off hockey and doesn't he win more then 50% in the face offs dot? This is also an underrated aspect to any players game. As it helps in the defensive zone faces offs trying to maintain a lead and clutch in offensive zone when in a close game; both situation where possession is greatly required.

We already have Horvat, Miller, and Beagle doing great at faceoffs, we need to dump Sutter sooner or later to free up space, and this could be the time to do it for all the reasons you stated - hopefully some playoff team will overvalue him and pay some futures for him.
