Leafs don't have many centres in the org, so if you'd take Bracco instead I'd absolutely do this without hesitation

Yup, I think this move is something the leafs would be interested in. Price seems fair.

Leafs can't move the 2021 2nd. It's attached to the LA deal already

So let me get this straight:

You state that Savard is better, younger, cheaper, signed for longer, bigger etc etc so he should get a better return than Greene. (2021 2nd rounder and a B prospect)

Then proceed to trade him for a 2nd round pick in 2021, Brooks and ALSO take back Ceci.......

I'd argue this deal is worse than what NJ got for Greene. for all the things you already specified.

Even if your opinion of Savard has soured recently as a Columbus fan (Im assuming) , he is certainly good enough and in demand enough to get a better return than this. I think the recent trade market pretty much explained that.

It doesn't have to be a 1st to be fair or anything but definitely "more".

Solid trade, I like it.

Good job.

Agree with others on Bracco instead of Brooks.

I’m having a hard time with him right now... Savard should be better then Green, but since Jones went down Columbus and all of their defenseman have been awful. I feel that Ceci actually isn’t bad, just getting left out to dry a lot in Toronto and under torts he could easily turn it around and basically replace Savard defensively.

I do agree he could probably get more, I’m just not great with the Toronto prospect pool and didn’t want to die over who the prospect was. I was also going to put a condition on the second, that they can’t even trade, that said if they won the cup this year or next year the 2nd became a 1st.

Toronto accepts this without reconsideration, which probably means it isn't too fair a trade.

I'd be trying to weasel SDA along with this.

Savard is an ok top 4. Jones is one of the best RHD in the league. Its like trying to replace Rolls Royce with a Chevy. Both get you from A to B but one of them has cigar and Champagne dispenser... Any team loses their best dman who also happens to be elite, they're gonna have a harder time. That applies to everyone.

Ceci first of all is injured and a pending UFA. You may not even get enough time to get something out of him for it to be worth while. Secondly, Columbus is still fighting for that playoff spot, no way you throw in towel just yet. Trading Savard would be leave that Jones-less right side looking AHL worthy.

Either way if Savard is to be traded so be it but I guarantee he'd get a better return than this. The market is there but you got to ask for it.
