If Brodin is going to Florida, it will probably be for Trocheck and based on reports Guerin wants more than just Trocheck for Brodin.

ive seen the reports but i dont think trocheck will be moved. i think panthers will try to send prospects instead but obviously i dont know what minnesotas interest level would be.

It would be Trocheck but the Wild would have to add as Trocheck is sign for longer

Trocheck is the only intriguing piece I see for the Wild, and I wouldn’t do it still

If the Wild have to add there won't be a deal. Here's a quote from yesterday on this subject:

"The Panthers are looking for a left defenseman to skate alongside Aaron Ekblad and the Wild have long been after a center. If the Wild were to trade Brodin, the package would likely need to be more than Trocheck, a 26-year-old native of Pittsburgh who is two years removed from a 31-goal, 75-point season."

At the very least it's a 1 for 1 but after watching Trocheck last night I'd much rather have Brodin.

Michael Russo, the Wild's beat writer and one of the more plugged-in sources in the league. Here is the article (paywall beware). I'd be willing to quote the Trocheck section if you don't have a subscription.

Of course he’s going to say the Cats have to add, he writes for the Wild. But everyone knows top 2 centers are more value than defenseman. But than again it’s all on the GM’s and their level of desperation

I knew you were going to say that. He's not a fan of the team, and he usually gets his sources from the other teams. Plus, he actually started his NHL career writing for the Panthers, so...

I can understand Florida's desire to stand pat on the roster they have -- after all, they're in contention for a playoff spot, have about a 50-50 chance of getting there, so why sell off any of their players? So it would have to be futures, which effectively means the 2020 first and Heponiemi, Noel or Tippett (and I don't think that they're giving up Tippett).

i firmly belive that they will try and move tippett, hepo, noel, borgstrom and any others before trocheck. now that doesnt mean minnesota would be interested.

after watching brodin play he seems like the almost the perfect guy to be next to ekblad. id love to see the panthers get him no matter what it takes. just if we are going to have to get rid of our second line center we would have to move other pieces for another one. maybe pageau? whats the census of ryan donato?

As much as I like Brodin for Florida, I don't like the idea of trading Trocheck for him. What the Panthers gain on defense, they lose by creating a hole at #2C. This construction motivated me to create a trade around futures. Eventually, I came up with Brodin for Florida's 2020 first and Heponiemi. That seems fair, but the snag is it puts the Panthers way over the cap. So to balance the finances, I had to add Pysyk (little lost, since he's a UFA) and Noel Acciari. That,of course, creates the new problem of compensation to Florida for Acciari's on-ice value. So I put in LW Jordan Greenway because he's on his ELC. I think that's the sort of deal that would benefit both teams equally.

@OldNYIfan @WilKov what if it's a Staal and Brodin package for Florida? I'd imagine the trade would have to be pretty significant for Florida, maybe something like Trocheck, Borgstrom, and a conditional 2nd or something (turns into a first if Florida reaches 2nd or 3rd round of playoffs). Just spit balling here but I think that would help fill the hole that losing trocheck creates and gives Florida a stud defenseman to pair with Ekblad (and I agree that Brodin would be PERFECT next to him).
