I doubt Holland moves any defense by the trade deadline, he's more likely to add short-term veteran depth if he can do so cheaply. He's going to want to see how Bear, Jones, and Lagesson hold up in the closing weeks of the season, and hopefully in the playoffs as well. He needs a guy like Benning in order to support those less experienced players, and extra veteran depth is an insurance policy.
This summer is when he'll get serious about changing things up. He has strong prospects who are pushing up against less talented veterans. With Jones looking pretty established now, Holland will push hard to move Russell. Lots of rumors of interest in Larsson, but neither Bear not Bouchard are like to step in and replace him. So Benning would seem to be the odd man out. Failure to move at least one lefty and one righty results in the risks of delaying the development of Bouchard and Samorukov, and losing Lagesson to a waiver claim.
