Absurd comments. Dermott is only 23, has a ton of skill and could be a great buy low pickup. he won’t be very expensive to sign either. You’re telling me that he’s not worth a ~ 20th overall draft pick who won’t crack an nhl lineup for at least two years and has what, a 15% chance of becoming a full-time nhler? Only reason I have the leafs trading him is because the leafs d is way too inexperienced and risk-prone with him sandin and liljegren all in the lineup
First of all, where did you come up with this 15% chance stuff? In any other year, that would be a silly claim, and this year's draft is stacked to the rafters - a 20th pick will be more like a 10th pick in a normal draft year. I'm also not sure how you're so certain that the 20th pick automatically won't be useful for a couple years, but let's be honest: WPG ain't contending for a Cup any time too soon anyway.
Yes, Dermott (who was picked 34th overall btw) is a nice, solid 4th or 5th D-man with some room to grow. No doubt. He's also about to be due a raise (it won;t be massive, but still). And yet, you're eager to trade this solid, cheap, young defenseman for someone "who won’t crack an nhl lineup for at least two years and has what, a 15% chance of becoming a full-time nhler?" But how can that be possible? Why would you do such a thing if he's so wonderful?
Oh, right. Because you'd rather have that 20th pick in a fat ass draft. I'd bet WPG agrees with you on that. Soooo maybe suggesting WPG would knock your offer back isn't quite absurd?
