Petry is basically a 1st defencemen. He played a lot better when Weber was out. Tho Petry has almost more point than Dadonov and he's a defencemen. FLA needs a backup for Ekblad and Yandle isn't one
I've said what I have to say if both aren't gonna be there fine but there is a fact Matheson < Petry with the same money with less risk Dadonov won't be there next year and he'll be trade and the deadline. It's either Trocher and Matheson out with Dadonov receiving the moon or Dadonov out with 4 millions to hang up players. The choice is simple with the cap space these guys have.
The panthers are gonna have close to 20 million in cap space next year with only 2 big names to sign (dadonov and Hoffman). Matheson cost less cap space than Petry. And it isn’t about trading Dadonov and Matheson. What I’m saying is why not just cut out the middle man and deal strictly with Colorado.
Colorado gets Dadanov, Matheson
Florida gets Erik Johnson, 2020 1st, Timmins
Florida gets a solid return for Dadanov, EJ to replace Matheson, a prospect RHD and a 1st in a deep draft.
Colorado doesn’t have to give up Byram, gets a top 6 forward for a cup run, and a younger/cheaper top 4 RHD to replace EJ.
They could just do that and leave Montreal out altogether.
