Description
Trade the old farts

-Call up cholo for the rest of the season let him play to improve for next year
-play Ras and Svech this year to see how they do again. Need to decide what to do with Svech so see how he plays
-Keeps Veleno and Seider to the 9 games and not burn a year. Let a player like Pearson give a crack at 4C by the end of the year.

Trade Daley too. For literally a 6th or 7th and I would be happy. I don't want to have to watch him play another game ever again. Sit Abby up in the pressbox instead, at least Ehn can skate and is useful on the penalty kill. Hell sit Nielsen up there too, I don't even notice he's playing most nights.

Clearly you don't know Glendening. I'm not even joking when I say he's probably one of the best bottom six players in the league. He's an elite bottom six player in my eyes. I can agree maybe not a 2nd, but he's not your average 4th liner, and honestly I think that deal is pretty fair.

Well you would be crazy to get rid of him than. Oilers have all 4th line players, unless he can play top line with McDavid, than we dont need him.

Even really really good 4th liners don't go for picks that high. The most you'll get would be a 3rd if a team is desperate for someone like him.

That being said, devils advocate for my own opinion, but Reaves did go for a 1st rounder... But he went from one contender to another (different supply & demand dynamic), wasn't an aging player, and was a shocker trade for everyone.

hes a player that plays on all lines and C and W. For a value of 900 000 for next year would totally be worth it. His speed and PK would be good for the oilers. and acquiring a 5th I think it would be fair.

I agree with you trading Daley for a 6 would be good just don't think teams will do it. I think green could catch more of an eye for teams. And yes abby and Nielsen should be out of the lineup but it hasn't happened in the first 60 games doubt it will happen in the last 20

I tend to disagree. Oilers' bottom 2 lines are some of the worst I've ever seen.

Up top, they have McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Neal, Yamamoto, which is 5/6 legit top-6ers. It's the bottom-6 the issue.

Retaining money on anyone who still has multiple years on their deal is just bad management... trade them both, but take back lower returns and not cap, otherwise, just keep them for next year and ride out their contracts until the deadline next year...

Detroit will have a huge amount of cap space next year will all the old guys gone. 1 extra year to retain 2.5 on two guys is nothing in the long run. Referring to a player like Abby or Nielsen then yes it would be a bad idea but not guys who only have one year after this and also low in salary. Detroit will probably over pay on someone next year just to reach the salary floor

It just doesn't make sense for picks that are still probably years out from being NHL ready, especially with the logjam of prospects/picks they already have. Now, if you were talking about a 1st rounder (which neither of them are worth), it would make a lot more sense to me. I don't think your rationale or approach is wrong, I just don't think it's necessary...

Neal and McDavid have been injured and Kassian has been suspended, Oilers are 4-1 without them and have been amazing. Sheahan and Archibald have been awesome and the bottom 6 in the second half has been excellent.
