Funny how in NHL 20, Malgin grows to be a 88 overall Top 9 Forward lol

Eh... Just why would FLA do this?

Cause Malgin has wanted out for a year now plus Marchment still has at least some potential for Florida.

It's not like Malgin doesn't have potential. I get that he asked for a trade - what I don't get why an established NHL player got traded for a) playoff spot rival and b) more or less AHL winger...

Last year it was the Leafs trading Lindholm for Petan, checker for smallish forward, this year it's another rerun, Marchment (checker) for Melgin (smallish guy). How did Petan look for the Leafs Dubas? other than the 1 way 2 year 775K deal he scammed off you.

Great, another 5'-9" forward …… Dubas still doesn't get it.

6'5 = Engvall
6'5 = Gauthier
6'4 = Korshkov
6'4 = Spezza
6'3 = Mikheyev
6'3 = Matthews
6'2 = Hyman
6'2 = Clifford
6'1 = Tavares
6'1 = Kapanen
6'0 = Nylander
6'0 = Marner

Forward height clearly isn't our problem ... but I guess you don't get it.

The majority of the players you listed are not Dubas draft picks and if you look at Dubas drafting history, he picks fast, small over big and strong every time.

Quick reminder; fast, small players wins Stanley Cups every year.

haha.....sarcasm alert!

The month of May is tee time for the Leafs, again and again and again....

I think you're original comment was about the size the Leafs forwards though .... and Patty Kane carried Chicago to the cup LOL.

He's massive right?

Everyone with a bit of hockey awereness : TOR need more players like Hyman

Dubarelli : Hold my beer * acquires another small forward that will demand 2M and ships away Marchment that would proly accept Moore's 2 x 775k contract to be on 4th Line Wing*

not to mention kid started to kill in AHL right after back from injury.....and now ppl are telling "we tried him, hes not NHL caliber"....i mean....its 4 Games

Nope, I get. People who think that the leafs win this trade are the same type of people who are ok with the leafs losing to their own Zamboni driver.

The good news for us if he keeps this up someone will overpay to sign him via Free agency, meanwhile Malgin is still owned by us so technically by then we will have won in the end wink

Anyways trades dont always work out live, learn and move on.

Sometimes weird things happen. At the time, Malgin was still an interesting young player, and Marchment didn't look like he'd ever reach the NHL. Alas, I was wrong, and trades can be weird. Another great example of this is Bigras for Graves...

I just stumbled upon this trade, of which I had no recollection from when it happened leading up to the 2020 deadline. I guess that’s a testament to how insignificant it seemed at the time. Of course it looks crazy now, but I suspected it looked like a clear Toronto win at the time, as the comments in this forum confirm.

I’m not going to speculate on whether they should have known better – hindsight is 20/20 – but what strikes me is the number of other teams’ castoffs Florida has taken and turned into solid NHL players – not just depth players, but guys who can play on the top two lines. Others include Anthony Duclair, Carter Verhaeghe, Gustav Forsling, Chris Driedger and Sam Bennett, and to a lesser extent, Eetu Luostarinen and Ryan Lomberg. I think they owe a lot of their success to that, because these guys tend to be on team-friendly contracts, at least at first. How do they do it?
