Rebuilding with Florida and Nashville Trades

Description
A couple of February moves I think would greatly advance the Ducks' chances of returning to relevance in 2021-2022. Dale Tallon has expressed a desire to add a RW and an LhD and David Poile is looking for a versatile depth forward to fill out his 23-man roster.

Assuming that Anaheim doesn't win one of the lotteries, the Ducks draft Alexander Holtz with their own first (presumably, Jamie Drysdale will already be gone by 7th overall), Braden Schneider with Florida's and Topi Niemola with their own second.

Do something, Bob!!

Preds pass. They're light on young defensemen, and will have multiple spots to fill on the back end next season. Conversely, they have an overabundance of versatile depth forwards - Sissons, Jarnkrok, Grimaldi, Watson, Trenin, Blackwell, Carr, Salomaki, Gaudreau, etc. If anything, Poile should trade a couple of these guys for picks or a 3rd D pair upgrade. Not to mention Shore makes too much for what he brings. I wouldn't be interested in qualifying him next season.

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but this was just wishful thinking on my part. Shore is definitely the odd man out on Anaheim's roster and I just can't think of a good place to send him.

We don't need to do anything with Shore. He's not worth his contract so no one is going to want him so he has no trade value for us. We might as well keep him as a fill-in which he's currently serving as and then just not qualify him when his contract is up. Trading Cogs was a cap-dump with the hope that Shore could be a decent depth player. It's clear that he isn't, not at the money he makes at least.

As for the Florida move, no way they make that trade. They're teetering on being sellers, they're not about to part with a first rounder for an oft-concussed forward, a dime-a-dozen d-man and a career minor leaguer. And personally I'd rather have Larsson than Pysyk, especially since he's about to be a UFA. Lars isn't anything special but he's finally developing into a fine, safe, third-pairing d-man. I'm tired of developing young d-men just to ship them off before they've really proven their true worth.

We should have struck while the iron was hot with Kase. I would stay far away from this kid if I were the other 30 GMs. I mean, who's to stay this isn't the concussion that finally knocks him out?

Well, that's all very pessimistic, but each of your points has merit and is valid.
